<Tagline>Scheduling Guide and Best Practices</Tagline>

HR Employment is pleased to announce new resources on video
interviewing and the creation of additional video interview statuses in the
    PageUp system.

In response to the need to conduct virtual/video interviews
for the foreseeable future, additional video interview applicant statuses have
been created in PageUp. We have added
Video Interview 1 and Video Interview 2 statuses to assist with differentiating
between the first and second interviews.

A Video Interview Scheduling guide was created to provide
guidance on how to set up and record the video interviews in PageUp. The guide also includes helpful information
on selecting the best method to schedule the video interview/meeting and sample
emails to send to candidates with the video interview meeting details. We would like to thank the HR Hiring Liaisons
that shared their process and emails with us!

In addition, we have created a guide for Video Interviewing
Best Practices. The guide contains tips for scheduling and conducting video
interviews for hiring managers and search chairs as well as a list of Do’s and
Don’ts. This guide would be a great
resource to give to all members of the search committee.

Both documents are located on the Recruitment & Hiring

Nepotism Question
    Added to Application

Earlier this year, Human Resources added a new nepotism
question to application forms in the PageUp system. Applicants are asked if they have any family
members working at UMBC and, if so, to give the name and relationship
information. A reference to the USM
policy on Employment of Members of the Same Family (Nepotism) and a list of definitions
of “family member” is listed on the application for reference.

This question should be reviewed by hiring managers during
the screening stage, to verify that a supervisor/subordinate relationship will
not be created. Relationships that may
cause an ethical concern regarding grants/sponsored awards should also be
    considered. The USM nepotism policy
applies to all UMBC faculty and staff.
Please contact Human Resources if you have any questions.

Reminder to Upload
your Ad Copy if Placing Outside Recruitment Advertisements

If you intend to place outside ads for a search, please
create the ad copy and upload it on the documents tab of the requisition. Human Resources will review the ad, make any
necessary changes and provide unique source identification links for you to
include in your ad. These links allow
the departments to track the effectiveness of the source of these outside
ads. An ad copy is only needed for
advertisements in sources other than the UMBC Jobs website, Higheredjobs and
HERC. A sample ad copy, along with
directions, is now available on the requisition under the Documents and Advertising
    sections.
