    <p>This is to remind you of an important resource for UMBC
    faculty, staff and students – the <a href="http://hr.umbc.edu/employee-consumer-information/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Consumer Compliance
    Information</a> website.<span>  </span>In accordance with
    the Higher Education Act, as amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act
    (HEOA), UMBC makes available to current and prospective faculty, staff and
    students important disclosure information regarding policies and
    disclosures.<span>  </span>While UMBC has a long
    history of sharing consumer and compliance information, the website was
    designed to provide all disclosure information in one location.<span>  </span>In addition, our one-page <a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/files/2019/08/UMBC-DRUG-AND-ALCOHOL-PREVENTION-2019_Final.pdf" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">UMBC

<Title>New DocuSign Forms: UMBC Initial &amp; Renewal Telework Forms</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><p><span><strong>Exciting News:</strong>  The Human Resources Department has
    transitioned the UMBC Initial Telework Agreement and Renewal Telework forms from paper to the
    electronic DocuSign platform. </span><span></span></p><p><strong><span>What has improved? </span></strong><span> Efficiency and response time.
    Requests are electronically submitted and routed to the appropriate signature of
    authorities while eliminating longer delays in turnaround responses.  Once
    departmental approval(s) have been obtained and recorded in DocuSign, the form
    will be routed to the appropriate HR representative for review, approval and
    processing. </span><span>Requestors and users will receive a notification once the request has been acted upon (status of Completed or Rejected/Declined to Sign) by the HR
    Approver. </span></p><p><span>Links to the telework forms and reference guide may be found on the following Human

<Title>New USM Tuition Remission System</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p>The Human Resources Department is pleased to announce we can
    now accept <strong>Tuition Remission applications online</strong> through the USM’s new Tuition
    Remission system for Fall 2019.<span>  </span>UMBC is
    excited to be the first campus to use the new system for its employees.<span>  </span>Other USM institutions will begin utilizing
    the system over the next year for their employees.<span>   </span></p>
    
    <p>The USM Tuition Remission System is user friendly and allows
    for secure online processing and tracking of tuition remission
    applications.<span>  </span>In addition, the process
    has been streamlined for quicker approval.<span> 
    </span>Employees will sign into this system using their myUMBC login.</p>
    
    <p><strong>Please note:</strong><strong> </strong>
    Employees applying for a dependent child/spouse will need the <strong>Student ID</strong>
    of the USM institution they are attending in order to use this system.  </p>
    
    <p><strong>Employees who have already submitted a paper form for the
    Fall 2019 semester, <u>do not</u> need to apply again via the USM Tuition Remission
    system.</strong><strong> </strong> Applications for future
    semesters should be submitted via the online system.</p>
    
    <p>The <a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/benefits/tuition-remission/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Tuition Remission webpage </a>has also been updated to

<Title>FREE MTA RIDERSHIP</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p>Beginning July 1, 2019 a <a href="http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/2019RS/bills/sb/sb0319T.pdf" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">new
    law</a> provides free ridership services for all <strong>regular USM faculty and staff</strong> members on the Maryland Transit
    Administration’s (MTA’s) light rail transit system, metro subway, local bus
    service, commuter bus service in the Baltimore region, and any other systems
    and services specified by the MTA. </p>
    
    <p>The MTA has created a sticker that can be affixed to
    university employee identification cards.  In order to access transit, employees
    would be required to present their university ID badges with the sticker
    affixed to it.  The institution is in the process of purchasing the stickers
    for employees who wish to participate in the program.<span>  </span><a href="https://parking.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Parking
    Services</a> will be coordinating efforts with the MTA on the sticker
    purchase.<span>  </span>Employees wishing to obtain a
    sticker may contact <a href="https://parking.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Parking Services</a> for
    more details.</p>
    
    <p>In the meantime, employees wishing to take advantage of this
    benefit <strong><em>before </em></strong>the stickers are available may obtain a State ID badge
    that will allow them to access the participating transit vehicles.  In
    order to obtain the ID card, employees must complete the <a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/files/2019/07/ID-Application.pdf" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Maryland Capitol
