    <div class="html-content"><div><div><span></span></div><span><p>Per The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) they have
    announced that they will defer the requirements for the employers to review the
    Form I-9 with new employees. This will allow for complete remote processing of
    the I-9. </p><div></div><p>Employers must now inspect section 2 of the form I-9 via
    video conference, fax, or email. Once these forms have been reviewed a copy
    must be received within three business days. The UMBC payroll team is
    developing a “DocuSign Remote Work I-9 Form”. This form will be used during the
    remote work period. Once the form has completed a link with additional
    instructions will be sent via the MyUmbc Payroll Prepare/HR work group.</p><div>
    
    <br></div><div><div><strong>Payroll 20 is due tomorrow.</strong>  Please do not hold your new hire packets (or any changes) while we get the Docusign Remote I-9 form in production this week.   <strong>Please do not use the prior Docusign I-9 form for Remote I-9s and do not attach copies of documents to the prior Docusign I-9 forms.</strong></div><div><br></div></div></span><div><span><br></span></div><div><br></div></div></div>

    the spread of COVID-19, a campus-wide announcement was issued notifying the
    campus community that UMBC will be closed on Friday, March 13, 2020.<span>  </span>Employees should review the Full-Day Closure
    section of the <a href="https://umbc.box.com/adminleavePDF" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span><span> </span>Administrative Leave Guidelines</span></a>
    located on the Human Resources website (<a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/hris/timekeeping-and-leave/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">https://hr.umbc.edu/hris/timekeeping-and-leave/</a>).
    As you review the guidelines for full-day closures, please be mindful of the
    following:</p>
    
    <ul>
     <li>The campus is in a status where employees
         should not be on site; however, if an employee is <u>required</u> to work,
         they should work <u>remotely</u> if the duties permit working remotely. </li></ul>
    
    <ul>
     <li>Administrative Leave is applicable to
         regular and Contingent II employees under the conditions outlined in the
         guidelines.</li></ul>
    
    <p>Due to the COVID-19 event, employees who do not earn leave may be

    <div class="html-content"><div><div><div><span>The payroll unit has received confirmation that all information submitted to the system's office regarding the 01/24/2020 FICA deduction for students and graduate assistants, is being processed by the Maryland Comptroller's Central Payroll Unit. </span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>The affected populations were those students/GA's in a full-time student/GA title for the fall semester and received a FICA deduction for the check dated 01/24/2020.</span></div><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>These refunds will be individually mailed to the address on file. A date has not been released as to when to expect the checks. As more information is provided we will update the campus.</span></div></div></div></div>
