Wed., Oct. 23, noon - 1:00pm: Lunch-in-the-Lounge with Dr. Andrew DeVos, who teaches AMST 200H: What is An American? Come have pizza and great conversation! (Honors Lounge, look for the myUMBC RSVP link, coming soon)

Thurs., Oct. 24, 6:00-7:30pm: HCC's S'Mores Night! Come have fresh, smoky delicious S'mores in Harbor Courtyard!

Sat., Oct. 26, 11:00am - 1:00pm: Honors College Homecoming (for both alumni and current students)! Come to the Alumni Tent on Erickson field to get yummy fall food and the 2024 Honors College t-shirt! 

Sun., Oct. 27, by 11:59pm: Honors College Halloween Virtual Costume Contest! More details to come, but use this weekend to plan! As you all know, the HCC is a fantastic group of Honors students who want nothing but to plan fun and meaningful events for the Honors College--but they are always looking for folks with great energy and ideas to join them!

There are three Chair positions, so please read the descriptions to see if any of these sound like they were made for you!

Major Events Chairs (two people)
  • reports to External Vice President 
  • handles major events such as the HCC Charity Gala and Trivia Night
  • assists the Charity Gala Planning Committee in terms of outreach, catering, budget, decorations, performances, agendas, and other preparation
  • serves as the HCC liaison with the Scholars programs and outside organizations when needed (especially re: the Charity Gala)

Recurrring Events Chairs (two people)
  • reports to the Internal Vice President
  • coordinates (and attends) regularly scheduled (monthly or biweekly) events such as Lunch in the Lounge
  • possesses strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

Social Media Manager (one person)
  • reports to the President
  • creates interactive posts on social media
  • advertises events, creates various announcements, and helps increase event attendance via social media outreach
  • possesses a good understanding of Instagram and Canva

Hey Honors Folks!


It has been our tradition in the Honors College to have the students design a t-shirt for us each year...and we want you to be a part! Not a particularly artsy person? No worries! Our past winners have come from all majors.

 

Here are the guidelines:

 

1. Designs must be in one color and appear on only one side of a shirt.

 

2. Designs should include graphics and (appropriate) words only, with no background. They should not include copyrighted material.

 

3. Designs must include the words "UMBC Honors College."

 

4. Please submit in either a "print ready file in AI" OR a HIGH-RES PDF.

 

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, September 12th, by 11:59pm to honorscollege@umbc.edu. Voting will begin Friday, September 13th and run through Monday, September 16th at 11:59 pm.
