It turns out that the winning design for our Honors College 2015 t-shirt was a little too awesome, and too close to UMBC's official logo and Retriever, so Flora Kirk, our winning artist, was asked to tweak her design. Keeping in the theme of the Honors College signature food, here is our new, re-tooled design for the 2015 t-shirt.

Tyler McCafferty '15, wins Fulbright for Malaysia!
A recent news story on the myUMBC homepage features several UMBC students who have won prestigious international study opportunities. The photo shows Honors College recent graduate, Tyler McCafferty (Cultural Anthropology and Environmental Studies) posing with an elephant during her study abroad experience in South Africa. Now Tyler is off to Malaysia, where as the recipient of a competitive Fulbright Teaching Assistantship award, she will be teaching English for a year.
Honors College alum Molly Bradtke '14, was honored as a Fulbright finalist and is mentioned in this story, as well.

Skylar Pardue '18 becomes a Point Foundation Scholar!!
Honors College rising sophomore Skylar Pardue was recently named a 2015 Point Foundation Scholar. The Point Foundation is a nationally renowned LGBTQ Scholarship Fund that "empowers promising LGBTQ students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential--despite the obstacles often put before them--to make a significant impact on society." Pardue, a math major and linguistics and German minor, grew up primarily in Baltimore and graduated from Baltimore City College HS. Here at UMBC, Skylar was recently re-elected Executive Director of QUMBC and remains an active member of other LGBTQ organizations on campus. Congrats to Skylar!!

Paige Dutrow '16 is Miss Maryland Runner-Up!
At the Miss Maryland Pageant on June 27th, Honors College rising senior Paige Dutrow was crowned first runner up. Previously Miss Charm of the Chesapeake, Paige performed extremely well at the pageant, winning the talent portion and receiving a $4,000 scholarship for her placement as first runner-up. Paige, a Math major at UMBC, is also very involved in her sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon. Congrats, Paige!!
