The National Women's Studies Association has selected Emek Ergun as their 2013 Graduate Student Scholarship recipient. The award goes to a student who will be engaged in the research or writing stages of a Master's Thesis or Ph.D. Dissertation in the interdisciplinary field of women's studies.
Emek's dissertation studies the multifaceted political praxis of feminist translation. Built on an analysis of her Turkish translation of Hanne Blank's Virgin: The Untouched History, the dissertation examines not only the interpretive processes of translation and the effects of the feminist translator's political agency on these processes, but also the receptions of the final product in Turkey.
Congratulations, Emek!
