Teaching Across Differences in the New Political Landscape
The Department of Gender and Women's Studies is hosting a monthly discussion-based symposium, Teaching Across Differences in the New Political Landscape, on the first Friday of each month at 3:00 in FA 424. This is an opportunity for faculty to share concerns and strategies to navigate difficult topics/conversations in the classroom, particularly arising during the spring 2017 semester.
All faculty are welcome. Light refreshments are provided.
The sessions for the remainder of the semester will be organized as peer resources sharing on the following specific topics:
March: Preparing to teach difficult topics (strategies for syllabi, lesson plans, homework, etc.)
April: Navigating issues in the classroom (strategies for the day of discussions, enacting plans, and responding in the moment)
May: Managing classroom dynamics after difficult discussions (Strategies for reflecting and responding long term)
Please join us and invite others!
If you plan to attend please RSVP to Kimberly Hardaway, Program Management Specialist for GWST at khardawa@umbc.edu. Drop-ins are also welcome.
