    <div class="html-content"><p>If you are an employee of UMBC,<span> a “Non-Traditional” (working full time, part-time, coming back to school) student</span>, or a Postdoc working on writing materials (Grant Proposal, a paper for a publication, etc.), and you are working on your graduate school courses, proposal, or dissertation, then this event is for you!  This session will have support, coaching, and food for you.</p>
    <p>You work hard every day to serve others on our campus! You may be supporting your family members, or you have decided to take some time for yourself to reach your goals.  Now, let us work with you to finish your graduate degree. This version of the “Dissertation House” was created just for you!</p>
    <p>We encourage you to take advantage of the full 2 days to work on your writing. Please follow the <a href="https://dissertationhouse.wordpress.com/apply/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">application process</a>.</p>

Submit a brief description (maximum 2 pages, font size 11-12 point 1-inch margins) that describes the project that you wish to accomplish during the <strong>Dissertation House </strong>period.  Applications will neither be reviewed nor accepted outside of the application enrollment period.</p>

    <div class="html-content"><p><span>Graduate students and Postdocs are invited to come to UMBC on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 at 2 PM for a seminar on developing a syllabus.  This seminar is part of the PROF-it (Professors-in-Training) series. Participants will learn how to develop a syllabus, manage time in the classroom, and plan content for the semester.     <div><span>Linda C. Hodges, Director of the Faculty Development Center, was Director of the Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Center for Teaching and Learning at Princeton University from 2003-2009 before retiring to Maryland. She holds a doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Kentucky and was a faculty member for over 20 years before transitioning into faculty development. Prior to coming to the McGraw Center in 2001 she was the William Rand Kenan, Jr. Professor of Chemistry at Agnes Scott College near Atlanta, Georgia. During her faculty tenure at two different institutions she taught a wide range of courses, participated in faculty governance, and served as department chair. In 1999 she was one of 28 faculty chosen nationally to study and assess new pedagogical approaches as a Carnegie Scholar of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. She has published widely on her work in faculty development, engaged student learning, and effective teaching practices. Her special interests are in pedagogies of engagement and the scholarship of teaching and learning.</span></div>

    <p>Northeastern University invites nominations and applications from candidates in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields for the Northeastern University STEM Future Faculty Fellowship (Postdoctoral) Program. </p>

    <p><span><strong>Northeastern University STEM Future Faculty Fellowship Program</strong></span></p>
    <p>Northeastern University invites nominations and applications from candidates in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields for the Northeastern University STEM Future Faculty Fellowship (Postdoctoral) Program. </p>
    <p>Northeastern University’s mission emphasizes translational research that addresses global challenges and enhances social wellbeing.  Northeastern University strives to create a vibrant and diverse community, characterized by collaboration, creativity, and unwavering commitment to excellence and an equally unwavering commitment to exhibiting respect for one another.  Northeastern celebrates diversity in all its forms and fosters a culture of respect that affirms inter-group relations and builds community. </p>
    <p>Consistent with Northeastern’s mission, vision and core values, the objectives of the STEM Future Faculty fellowship program are:</p>
    <p>1)      to encourage and promote excellence and diversity in the pool of future faculty candidates in the STEM fields at Northeastern;</p>
    <p>2)      to introduce to Northeastern’s academic community qualified postdoctoral researchers in the STEM fields who are considering faculty careers;</p>
    <p>3)      to enhance opportunities for academic careers in the STEM fields for persons from diverse backgrounds who have demonstrated a commitment to an inclusive faculty and an inclusive academic experience for all students;</p>
    <p>4)      to prepare Future Faculty Fellows for possible tenure-track appointments at Northeastern;</p>
    <p>5)      to enhance the academic environment of Northeastern’s STEM fields by providing opportunities for students and faculty to gain experience in multi-cultural, broadly diverse and inclusive work settings and research collaborations that improve the capacity of all their members.  </p>

<Title>UMBC Postdoc for Faculty Diversity: Positions open for July 2015. Deadline Nov. 14, 2014</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p><a href="http://www.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">The University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC)</a> is proud to announce a new round of the now biennial <strong>UMBC Postdoctoral Fellowship for Faculty Diversity</strong>. This <a href="http://facultydiversity.umbc.edu/diversity-initiatives/postdoctoral-fellows-program/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">postdoctoral program</a> is a two-year in-residence fellowship that supports promising scholars committed to diversity in the academy and prepares them for possible tenure-track appointments at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). During the two-year appointment, UMBC provides teaching and research mentors and professional development opportunities across campus. Fellows also receive a stipend, health benefits, and additional funding for conference travel and the preparation of scholarly work, as well as office space with a computer, library, and other privileges at the university. The application period closes on November 14, 2014, and UMBC will appoint recent recipients of the Ph.D as Postdoctoral Fellows for a two-year term beginning July 1, 2015. </p>
