    <p>On May 6, 2017, PROMISE AGEP will be hosting its annual PROMISE AGEP Friends and Family Cookout! You are invited to come, bring your friends, family, and anyone who supports your journey through graduate school. <strong>This event is free</strong>. Graduate students from all schools within the University System of Maryland (USM) are invited!</p>

    The UMBC Exit is THE SAME EXIT off of 95 for the BWI Marshall Airport.<br>
    Follow the signs for UMBC, Rt. 166, Catonsville.</p>
    <p>Once you are on UMBC’s campus (landmarks: Silo on the left, BW Research Park on the right plus construction), stay in the right lane.</p>
    <p>* Make a RIGHT onto Hilltop Circle.</p>
    <p>* Pass Administration Drive (immediately past the parking garage)</p>
    <p>* Make the 2nd LEFT onto Commons Drive.</p>
    <p>The Commons Building will be in front of you. It is a multi-leveled glass walled building. Park in any open space or open lot after 3:30. If you park at a meter, you must have coins available to pay the metered fees.</p>
    <p>The Commons is surrounded by the Parking Garage, the Physics Building, the Public Policy Building, and the Theatre. You will know that you are in the right place because Commons Drive ends in a loop with these buildings at the edges.</p>

    <p>On April 13, 2017 (changed from March 1, 2017), we will be having our annual “Pathways to Leadership” seminar talk with Dr. Freeman Hrabowski. Everyone is invited to come.</p>

    <div><span>In 2003, the first year of programming for the PROMISE AGEP, a UMBC Public Policy graduate student named Robert Alexander asked if PROMISE could sponsor a “town hall” type of seminar with UMBC’s</span><a href="http://president.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"> President, Dr. Freeman Hrabowski</a>. That conversation birthed the concept of an annual seminar for graduate students that would feature the university’s president.<a href="http://www.battelle.org/site/battelle-health-analytics-newsletter/battelle-health-analytics-november-2014/news-you-can-use/battelle-public-health-team-expands-capabilities-with-new-talent" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"> Dr. Robert Alexander is now part of the Health &amp; Analytics Business Unit at Battelle</a>, after spending nearly 10 years in his first dream job in Health Communications at the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Similarly, after more than 10 years, Dr. Freeman Hrabowski is the <a href="http://www.ed.gov/edblogs/whieeaa/about-us/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Chair of the U.S. President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans</a><span>, and has received numerous recognition from media outlets such as TIME, US News &amp; World Report, PBS (“Charlie Rose,” “Tavis Smiley”), and CBS (“60 Minutes.”). The president continues to make time in his schedule to address graduate students. Dr. Hrabowski has been having his spring semester conversation with graduate students at UMBC since 2004. </span></div>

    <p><em><strong>Positions available: </strong></em> Anne Arundel Community College has <span>immediate openings</span> for instructors of Astronomy and Physics courses.  Lectures and Lab sections are available. Must have a Master’s degree in a science field.  Teaching experience preferred.</p>

Her storytelling curriculum is based on 10 years of teaching memoir writing at the collegiate and graduate level, and her experience coaching more than 1,000 people to tell the true, personal tales of their lives. Morgan is a Senior Associate of the </span><span>Abshire Inamori Leadership Academy, at the</span><span> Center for Strategic and International Studies in DC.</span><br><br><span>Scott</span><span>  </span><span>Morgan</span><span>  has been teaching communication skills for 20 years. His clients include the National Institutes of Health, the Mayo Clinic, Merck, NASA, EPA, City of Hope Cancer Center, and several universities: Harvard Medical School, UNC Chapel Hill, Cornell, Maryland, Ohio State, Minnesota, Duke, Nebraska and NC State University, and Texas A&amp;M. He has 25 years of broadcast experience and teaches media and communication strategy to many think tanks in the Washington DC area.
