    <div class="html-content"><p>The Summer Dissertation House is coming to UMBC, July 11-14, 2017. Graduate students who plan to participate should follow the <a href="https://dissertationhouse.wordpress.com/apply/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">application procedures</a>.</p>
    <p>Open application period: Early bird May 22, 2017 – June 2, 2017. Late registration June 3, 2017 – June 18, 2017 (Applications received during the early bird period will have priority.)</p>
    <p>(Please note that there are only 15 to 18 slots for this event, consider applying early)</p>

    <ul>
    <li>The Dissertation House runs from 9 AM – 5 PM, for four days, Tuesday, July 11 through Friday, July 14, 2017</li>
    <li>Students must plan to <strong>attend the full session</strong>, for each of the 4 days.</li>
    <li>Daily schedule includes 2 mini-lectures, and 5 hours of writing per day.</li>
    <li>Breakfast, Lunch, and a snack will be served daily.</li>
    </ul>
    <p><em>The July 11-14, 2017, Dissertation House is <strong>only available to UMBC’s graduate students</strong> who can attend in-person, however, the online version is open to anyone, from any institution, world-wide!</em></p>
    <p>This version of the Dissertation House is open to all graduate students, in all disciplines.<br>

    <p>On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, Dr. Darryl Williams, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, Tufts School of Engineering will come to UMBC to have a conversation with undergraduate and graduate students about sharing research on a global level. His discussion, “<strong><em>Giving your research a global platform</em></strong>” will include conversations about his experiences with sharing research in Panama, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, and other countries. Dr. Williams is Research Associate Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Tufts University, and he explores the effects of nanostructured materials on biological systems. Dr. Williams also serves as the Director for Tufts’ Center for STEM Diversity, and the current President of the national Minorities in Engineering Division (MIND) for the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Prior to coming to Tufts, Dr. Williams was a program officer at the National Science Foundation.</p>
    <p>Dr. Williams received the Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park, and the B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Hampton University.</p>

    <div>Dr. Alecia C. Eubanks is a Dissertation Writing Expert at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Washington, D.C. campus. Her philosophy of working with students integrates personal encouragement, teaching transferable skills, and setting clear goals to complete the dissertation process. Alecia Eubanks earned a Ph.D. in Applied Psychology at Southern Illinois University. Her professional experiences include administration, leadership training, curriculum design, and program evaluation across government, educational, and nonprofit sectors. Dr. Eubanks is an alumna of the University of Maryland’s Academic Achievement Programs and a former Associate Director of the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program, which prepares underrepresented students for doctoral studies.</div>

    <p>You are invited to participate in the <strong>NextProfScience 2017</strong> workshop being offered at the <strong>University of Michigan</strong> on <strong>May 2-5, 2017 </strong>(see <a href="http://sites.lsa.umich.edu/nextprof-science" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">link</a>). NextProf Science is aimed at future faculty—advanced doctoral students or postdoctoral fellows who are interested in an academic career in science at an exceptional academic research institution and who have demonstrated a commitment to diversity.</p>
    <p>The science and mathematics departments of the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and Arts will host ~50 future faculty participants on the U-M campus to show them the rewards of an academic career, help them understand the faculty search process, and connect them with faculty in their research area, as well as academic leaders, and other participants.</p>
    <p>The <strong>NextProf<em> </em>Science<em> </em>2017</strong><em> </em>workshop is free to participants, who must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Underrepresented minorities and women are especially encouraged to apply. Travel, lodging, and meals will be covered by the program.</p>

    <p>From November 4 – 6, 2016, graduate students of the LSAMP Bridge to Doctorate Fellows and PROMISE AGEP community attended the World Engineering Education Forum (WEEF) in Seoul, South Korea.
