Good afternoon, 

 

I am sharing this on behalf of Ida E. Jones, the chair for the 2021 Joseph L. Arnold Prize. I am sharing the call for 2022 submissions on behalf of the Baltimore City Historical Society's Joseph L. Arnold Prize committee. The Arnold Prize is a funded award for outstanding writing on Baltimore's history.  

 

The submission must be unpublished and be a minimum of 15 pages to maximum of 45 pages double spaced typed.

Hi all,

The GSA is attempting to gather preferences of GSOs in regards to their requesting of funds. In determining a more equitable distribution of funds, the GSA is considering reforms to how funds are granted to GSOs. Please complete one form per organization. Submitting the below information will assist the GSA in understanding how GSOs plan on using funding and will overall benefit GSO fund allocation. We would also like to see what funding GSOs are planning to use for the rest of the semester and Spring 2022. The budget you submit is not formal, nor is it required, but it would be helpful for the GSA to see what type of events/amount of funds organizations are anticipating using.

 

The attached google form to submit is linked here. Also attached here is a budget template sheet for your organization to fill out. Please make a copy of this template and then upload it to the google form before submitting it.

Bring your unwanted, unused, and expired prescriptions to the lobby of the UMBC Police station from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you are unable to drop in on Saturday, please email Bruce Perry, Deputy Chief of Police, at bperry1@umbc.edu to set up a time to drop off your medication.

Final training for GSOs will be happening this Tuesday, October 19th, at 11 am, and Wednesday, October 20th, at 11 am and 2 pm. These trainings provide the opportunity for GSO members to understand how GSOs operate, how they interact with the Graduate Student Association (GSA) and allow for students to ask questions about funding, hosting events, and other important topics. Invasives Attack! Scavenger Hunt

We are going on a hunt to identify invasive species who are attacking natural areas around campus with the Environmental Task Force. The group will be meeting at the Commons where you will receive an identification guide and instructions on how to complete the scavenger hunt. Identify 3 species and win some Sustainability Matters Swag!

State of the Period: An Open Conversation on Student Period Poverty

Join an open conversation about how period poverty impacts students. We will also spend time discussing reusable menstruation products and students will get a chance to sign up for a free menstrual cup!

The University System of Maryland encompasses 12 institutions, including UMBC, and three regional higher education centers. It employs more than 16,000 faculty members and 25,000 staff members, and owns almost 1,000 buildings. Its annual operating budget is more than $5 billion. There are more than 170,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at its various institutions. 

How would you like to represent all of those students as a member of the Board of Regents, the system's governing body? 

Please take a look at this description of the Student Regent position and consider applying. Please also pass the information along to friends who may be interested. The Student Regent will serve from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2024, serving as the voting Student Regent in 2023-2024. All applicants should be planning to graduate in spring 2024 or later.

The application deadline is Friday, November 5th at 5:00 p.m. Here is the application.
