Today's talk is How to Protect Your Mental Well-Being Online - From a Gen-Zer.  Whether you have one follower or a million, we've all witnessed nastiness and hate speech on social media. YouTube content creator and mental well-being motivator Peachy Liv advocates for a kinder, more respectful digital world -- and urges us all to reflect before we share our thoughts online. Hear her tips for dealing with cyberbullying and personal insights on how we can all make the internet a safer place.

Facilities Management and the Office of Accessibility and Disability Services are hosting a review of recent, current and potential construction projects that enhance accessibility, improve the physical environment of UMBC, and benefit the entire community while supporting accessibility for people with disabilities. 

Learn about the progress being made (have you used the new elevators in Fine Arts, Sondheim and Schwartz Hall?), projects on the horizon, and share ideas to inform the proposal process for UMBC's continued participation with the AccessMD Program. Other updates that enhance accessibility beyond the scope of the program will be shared because renovations and new construction include accessibility as part of the design process.

NEW GRADUATE ASSISTANT ORIENTATION

During the session, we will go over the GA Handbook and GA FAQs. We will discuss appointment letters, tuition remission, registration requirements, what to do if questions or problems arise, FICA, and much more.

The New Graduate Assistant (GA) Orientation will be offered on Feb 3 from 1PM-2PM. 

Please note that this is a required session for new Spring 2022 GAs. All NEW Research Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Graders, Administrative Assistants and Peaceworkers, must attend. 

• Participants will have an opportunity to meet and ask questions of administrators who work closely with GAs. 
• Although the session is for GAs, faculty and staff are always welcome to attend. Please feel free to register by selection "Going" and to share the link with anyone that works closely with GAs and may be interested in attending.
• If a new GA is not able to attend, please send an email to jeffhalv@umbc.edu.
• Returning GAs are not required to attend but are welcome to do so.
