click here to give input regarding the upcoming RAC renovations! With multiple athletic offices moving to the Event Center, there is an opportunity for students to state what they want to see!
The current plan is to expand recreational space, update fitness equipment, and add University Health Services and the Counseling Center to the building! If you have opinions, please fill out the survey! The results to this survey will be sent to Facilities Management to better inform the university's future decisions!

Wednesday, April 4, 12 p.m.
We invite you to attend the Presidential Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 4 in the University Center Ballroom. Please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of this year's campus- and system-wide award recipients. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., with lunch provided. The program will begin at 12 p.m.
Release time will be granted for employees to take part in this event, and everyone is encouraged to attend. All campus offices will remain open, and services should continue to be offered. Supervisors and staff are asked to work together to coordinate staffing.

2018 Commencement Ceremonies
We invite you to participate in UMBC’s Spring 2018 Commencement Ceremonies at the new UMBC Event Center on campus.
- Graduate Commencement will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23
- Undergraduate Commencement will be split into two ceremonies onThursday, May 24
- 10 a.m. – College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the School of Social Work, and Erickson School
- 4 p.m. – College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, College of Engineering and Information Technology, and Interdisciplinary Studies
Join us in celebrating our graduating students by marching in UMBC's spring commencement processions. If interested, please take a moment to RSVP through ourOnline Commencement Form. This information will be used for event planning logistics and so that appropriate seating arrangements can be made.
Marching in the procession requires academic regalia. If you need to order regalia you can do so now through April 23, 2018. Specific instructions for ordering regalia can be found on our Online Commencement Form. Note that UMBC will subsidize the rental of academic regalia for faculty and staff; however, orders made after April 9 will be charged an expedited shipping fee to ensure timely delivery.

Special Announcement regarding Coach Ryan Odom
Dear Members of the UMBC Community,
We are excited to announce that UMBC leaders and Coach Ryan Odom have agreed in principle to contract amendments that will retain Coach Odom as the head of the UMBC men’s basketball team. We are pleased that he will continue to build on this season’s remarkable success.
UMBC made history under Coach Odom’s guidance as the first No. 16 seed to defeat a No. 1 seed, with a decisive victory over Virginia on March 17th in the first round of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament. The week before, the Retrievers captured the America East Tournament title and secured a bid to the NCAA tournament for just the second time in school history.
The Retrievers finished this season with a school record 25 wins (25-11), and in two years under Odom, have won seven postseason contests and compiled an overall record of 46-24.
"We are very proud of Coach Odom and our basketball team. Coach Odom is an amazing educator and fine human being,” said President Freeman Hrabowski. “He appreciates the important relationship between our athletic and academic programs."
“I am so proud of our staff and players, and it’s been a remarkable journey that we set out on together,” Head Coach Ryan Odom said. “I am grateful to Dr. Hrabowski and Tim Hall for their confidence in our staff to continue to lead these young men during their time at UMBC. It’s a great honor to be a part of the UMBC community.”
The men’s basketball team will be honored this evening in Annapolis, beginning with a reception hosted by Governor Larry Hogan and concluding with visits to the Senate and House Chambers.
