<Title>Bring in the Bystander training (4/29, 6 - 8 p.m.)</Title>
<Tagline>Learn skills for safe, effective intervention</Tagline>

    <div>An in-person educational program that encourages participants to become positive bystanders in instances of sexual and interpersonal violence and harassment. Participants learn to identify problem situations; they also learn practical skills for safe and effective intervention.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>The training will be held Monday, April 29, 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 310, University Center. Dinner and training are provided free of charge. Registration required <a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/greendot/events/70306" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">here</a>. </div>

<Title>Measles Vaccine</Title>

    <div><span>Dear Members of the UMBC Community,<br><br>The <a href="https://t.e2ma.net/click/rfjzqc/nwtbnbb/va6kwo" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Maryland Department of Health</a> has announced there has been three confirmed cases of <a href="https://t.e2ma.net/click/rfjzqc/nwtbnbb/b36kwo" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">measles</a> in Maryland. <strong>There are no reported cases at UMBC</strong>. Measles vaccine is required for students at UMBC. Students not in compliance with this requirement risk losing the ability to enroll in classes.<br><br>Please take this opportunity to check your vaccine records to ensure that you are in one of the following categories:</span></div>
    <ul>
    <li><span>Received two doses of measles–containing vaccine (typically MMR) on or after the person’s first birthday;</span></li>
    <li><span>Had a blood test showing immunity to measles;</span></li>
    <li><span>Were born in the United States prior to January 1, 1957 (a time when measles was common). Please note that there is no age cut–off for immunity in persons born outside the U.S. This means those born outside of the U.S. need two doses of MMR regardless of age.<br></span></li>

    <span>Measles vaccine is available at University Health Services on campus and at many of the surrounding pharmacies.     <div>It’s time for Spring Commencement, and we need your help! We are looking for volunteers, both experienced and new, to help make this year’s ceremonies a great success for UMBC, our graduates, and their family and friends.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div><strong>Graduate Commencement will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22<br><br></strong></div>
    <div>
    <strong>Undergraduate Commencement will be split into two ceremonies on Thursday, May 23</strong><br>
    </div>
    <div><ul>
    <li>10 a.m. – College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the School of Social Work, and Erickson School</li>
    <li>4 p.m. – College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, College of Engineering and Information Technology, and Individualized Study Program</li>
    </ul></div>

<Title>UMBC FAQ Knowledge Base Limited to Campus Use Only</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><span><p><span>Due to a recently published set of security vulnerabilities, UMBC’s Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) website at </span><a href="http://umbc.edu/faq" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>umbc.edu/faq</span></a><span>  is no longer accessible outside of UMBC. DoIT is going to keep this restriction in place for the remainder of the week while we work to upgrade the software so that it is no longer vulnerable to these attacks. </span></p>
    <p><span>The campus community can continue to access the FAQs while on campus, or off-campus through the </span><a href="https://wiki.umbc.edu/x/qQIxAg" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>Virtual Private Network</span></a><span> (VPN) or </span><a href="https://wiki.umbc.edu/x/joN0Ag" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>Virtual Desktop Environment</span></a><span> (VDE). There will be some downtimes needed later in the week to upgrade the services, and we will post those when we have more details available. </span></p>

<Title>Campus Card Exchange for Faculty and Staff Starts April 16</Title>

    <div><span>As a reminder, we are hosting several campus card exchange events where you will be able to exchange your old campus card for a new one. The following is a list of exchange days for <strong>faculty and staff</strong>:</span></div>
    <ul>
    <li><span>April 16, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., UC Ballroom Lounge<br></span></li>
    <li><span>April 29, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., UC 310<br></span></li>
    <li><span>May 1, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m., UC Ballroom Lounge<br></span></li>

    <span>May 2, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m., UC Ballroom Lounge</span><br>
    </li>
    </ul>
    <div><span><span>What do I need to bring?</span></span></div>
    <div><span>All members of the UMBC community receiving new cards are required to bring the following:</span></div>
    <ul>
    <li><span><strong>Current campus card</strong>. You will not be able to receive your new campus card without exchanging your current one. This is for security reasons.</span></li>
    <li><span><strong>Second form of identification</strong> for verification purposes. Approved forms of identification include:<br></span></li>
    <ul>
    <li><span>Current Driver’s License, Learner’s Permit, or State ID<br></span></li>
    <li><span>Passport or Passport Card<br></span></li>
    <li><span>Government-Issued ID<br></span></li>
    <li><span>Permanent Resident Card<br></span></li>
    <li><span>Employment Authorization Card<br></span></li>
    <li><span>Any Photo ID paired with your Birth Certificate</span></li>

Lost or stolen cards require us to void your current one and reprint a new one.     <h3>TSC Student Consultant Job Description</h3>
    <p>Technology Support Center (TSC) student consultants are the first points of technical contact for the UMBC community and those who do well often go on to work in other areas of the Division of Information Technology (DoIT). Minimally, consultants are expected to provide initial triage and support for a wide range of information technologies including accounts, hardware, instructional technologies, networking, software, telecommunications, and basic web development.</p>
    <h4>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:</h4>
    <ul>
    <li>Provide technical assistance to users by phone, online and in person;</li>
    <li>Answer TSC phones in a professional and courteous manner;</li>
    <li>Create, update and resolve tickets in the Request Tracker (RT) ticketing system;</li>
    <li>Create, update, suggest and recommend relevant FAQ articles to users (<a href="http://www.umbc.edu/faq">www.umbc.edu/faq</a>);</li>
    <li>Provide direct assistance to users on technical issues they cannot easily resolve on their own;</li>
    <li>Complete in-person or online training about quality support as defined in umbc.edu/go/ticketrubric;</li>
    <li>Respond to all work-related communications in a timely manner;</li>
    <li>Escalate urgent problems to the Full-Time staff, as appropriate.</li>
    </ul>
    <h4>Required Skills and Experience</h4>
    <ul>
    <li>Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate by phone or in person.</li>
    <li>Demonstrated writing ability.</li>
    <li>Demonstrated ability to achieve successful outcomes in handling difficult situations and customers.</li>
    <li>Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills.</li>
    <li>Ability &amp; willingness to learn coupled with a clear understanding of one’s technical abilities, so as to triage and escalate an issue that leads to an effective solution for the user.</li>
