Retriever Courage Celebrates Two Years

<Tagline>A campus-wide effort by Students, Faculty, & Staff</Tagline>

Change requires the courage to speak out, listen, learn, and take action. Our community showed tremendous courage two years ago when we began the mission of Retriever Courage and it has continued to show courage as campus-wide changes were made.

We have been able to accomplish a great deal in the last two years, but there is more to do and we are committed to doing it in collaboration with the ongoing anti-racism work happening in our country, and on our campus, right now. The Inclusion Council, which was formed to advise the Office of Equity and Inclusion and whose members serve as ambassadors for the office across campus, has launched working groups, one of which is focused on sexual misconduct and harassment to help with this work. There are also other campus partners working with the Office of Equity and Inclusion in an advisory capacity. This work remains important to our campus community.

Protect Yourself with a Seasonal Flu Shot

As influenza (flu) season quickly approaches, it is important to take precautions to prevent the spread of influenza. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the CDC guidance on Seasonal Influenza Prevention and Vaccination. Getting a flu vaccination is particularly important this year. It will help reduce the number of preventable hospitalizations related to flu, which will, in turn, support our nation's medical community in ensuring that persons impacted by COVID-19 receive adequate and timely medical care. It is possible to have both COVID-19 and influenza. Getting a flu vaccine helps to protect individuals, their households, and their communities from the spread of seasonal flu.

Ask an Ambassador!

Have questions but you don't know who to ask? Reach out to a Graduate Student Ambassador! There is a wonderful group of students from various academic and cultural backgrounds who are ready to help YOU! They can help get you connected to resources on campus for academic help, health and wellness, and even for social/cultural groups on campus!

Graduate Student Ambassadors are volunteer student peers who serve as a “brain trust” for other students seeking information and resources regarding how to become successful, virtual learners in the time of COVID-19.

Ambassadors provide information, share their experiences on what has and what has not worked in terms of effective strategies, and direct the student to the resources available on campus. Please visit the link below with the "Website" tab to view the list of Ambassador volunteers and reach out to them directly via the contact information provided.
