President Freeman Hrabowski, and Provost Philip Rous invite all departments to submit nominations for the 2021-2022 Presidential Teaching Professor and Presidential Research Professor Awards. 

Presidential Professors receive an award of $2,500 for each of the three years of the award period. The awardee’s department receives $2,500 per semester for the same period.

Email nominations to Vice Provost, Patrice McDermott in the Office of the Provost at mcdermot@umbc.edu by Friday, November 5, 2021. Detailed information concerning eligibility, criteria, and documentation for these awards can be found here.

Hi all,

The GSA is attempting to gather preferences of GSOs in regards to their requesting of funds. In determining a more equitable distribution of funds, the GSA is considering reforms to how funds are granted to GSOs. Please complete one form per organization. Submitting the below information will assist the GSA in understanding how GSOs plan on using funding and will overall benefit GSO fund allocation. We would also like to see what funding GSOs are planning to use for the rest of the semester and Spring 2022. The budget you submit is not formal, nor is it required, but it would be helpful for the GSA to see what type of events/amount of funds organizations are anticipating using.

The attached google form to submit is linked here. Also attached here is a budget template sheet for your organization to fill out. Please make a copy of this template and then upload it to the google form before submitting it.

Please submit this form by Monday, October 25th at 5 pm

We still need your help to recognize and honor the exemplary work of our talented and dedicated Exempt and Non-Exempt staff working to support our mission. Our staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that our students, faculty, and staff had the tools they needed to be successful in a mostly remote environment, to be safe if they were working or learning on campus, and to lay the groundwork for the broader return to our physical campus.

We encourage administrators, faculty, and staff who are familiar with the outstanding contributions of our staff to nominate them for one of these prestigious awards:

Descriptions of the individual awards, the eligibility requirements for each, and the nomination form can be found at 2021-22 Staff Awards. Each nomination should include the nomination form, a letter of recommendation, and the nominee’s resume or job history form. Please send nominations to Colleen Rebeiro in the Office of the Provost at colleenr@umbc.edu by October 30, 2021.

Hi all,

Final training for GSOs will be happening this Tuesday, October 19th, at 11 am, and Wednesday, October 20th, at 11 am and 2 pm. These trainings provide the opportunity for GSO members to understand how GSOs operate, how they interact with the Graduate Student Association (GSA) and allow for students to ask questions about funding, hosting events, and other important topics. Please fill out this registration form to attend a session. If you cannot attend either, please note that in the form to add another session time.
