<Title>Germany Today Program 2025 Application Due Now</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>DAAD invites representatives from universities, research institutions and funding agencies in the United States and Canada, as well as colleagues from the fields of education policy and politics, to join the “Germany Today” Information Tour 2025. DAAD’s Information Tour “Germany Today” is designed to give participants a broad overview of Germany’s higher education landscape. This includes:</div><div><ul><li>An overview of Germany’s higher education and research systems</li><li>An update on current developments, innovative projects, and structural reforms</li><li>Details about BA and MA programs, as well as PhD training at various institutions</li><li>Information on funding opportunities for academic exchange and institutional cooperation</li></ul></div><div>The theme of this year's tour is the strengthening of exchange and networking between the higher education systems in Germany and North America. Global challenges such as energy supply, climate change, urban development, and health policy issues can only be addressed through international academic collaboration and exchange. The tour offers the chance to explore the broad spectrum of German scientific institutions, including universities in Hamburg, Kiel, Lübeck and Berlin, which are notable for both their international cooperation and their integration into their respective local communities. </div><div><br></div><div>Applicants should be U.S./Canadian citizens or permanent residents, possess a demonstrated interest in Germany and transatlantic cooperation, and hold a relevant professional position. </div><div><br></div><div>The application is due on <strong>March 23rd,</strong> and is attached below. <Title>Apply today for the IDEAS STEAM Virtual Exchange</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>Are you interested in a cultural exchange, but unable to study abroad? Apply today for the IDEAS STEAM Innovations virtual exchange! This 8-week program is focused on project-based learning and developing technical skills to tackle challenges within participants' communities, all while increasing cross-cultural understanding. Participants will gain a global perspective through weekly workshops, engaging activities, and networking opportunities. This program is ideal for students in which study abroad is not feasible or for those who have recently returned from an overseas experience and are looking to embark on another journey, albeit virtually. Those who successfully complete the program will become part of the U.S. Department of State's extensive alumni network, which provides access to additional opportunities, resources, career connections, and professional development. </div><div><br></div><div><div>Eligibility Criteria: </div><div><ul><li>All majors welcomed! No prior technical experience is necessary.</li><li>Must be in good standing with the university (recommendation letters are not required). </li><li>A completed application, including a personal statement expressing interest in the program. </li><li>English language proficiency is required; Arabic language proficiency is not required. </li><li>Access to the internet is necessary to log onto the Discord discussion platform and Canvas. </li></ul><div>If you are interested, you can find more information in the attached flyer or on their <a href="https://www.worldlearning.org/program/steam-innovations/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">website</a>.     <div class="html-content"><span><span>UMBC’s Center for Global Engagement (CGE) is closely monitoring the executive orders being issued and actions taken in Washington. CGE has developed an <a href="https://umbc.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f18b6221e040d27d80cd67af8&amp;id=fd63ad3616&amp;e=9405d9fd33" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Immigration Policy Updates</a> page that will include essential information on any new executive orders, changes to agency policies, and legal updates as courts rule on the legality and constitutionality of particular actions in ways that affect their implementation.<br><br>International students are an essential part of UMBC’s vibrant community, and we wish to reiterate our commitment to supporting all community members in this time of uncertainty.<br><br>It is as important as ever to take care of ourselves and each other. Remember that UMBC has support resources available through <a href="https://umbc.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f18b6221e040d27d80cd67af8&amp;id=616319dd1f&amp;e=9405d9fd33" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Retriever Integrated Health</a> and <a href="https://umbc.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f18b6221e040d27d80cd67af8&amp;id=dace74f593&amp;e=9405d9fd33" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Retriever Support Services</a>. These resources include, but are not limited to, access to counseling services and peer support services.<br><br>For our alumni engaged in Optional Practical Training (OPT) and other forms of employment, your employer’s human resources department may also provide access to an Employee Assistance Program. We encourage you to use these resources and continue to support one another with compassion.<br><br>If you have questions, need help accessing resources, or simply wish to talk, please do not hesitate to contact CGE’s International Student and Scholar Services team. We offer walk-in advising hours during which any international student can speak with an advisor without an appointment. <Title>Exciting International Collaboration Opportunities - Wales, UK!</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><img src="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/globalpartnerships/posts/146808/attachments/55089" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"><div><span><br></span></div><div><span>On January 27, 2025, in collaboration with Dr.</span><span>Houbing Herbert Song</span><span>of UMBC’s SONG Lab, our Global Partnerships Team hosted representatives from</span><span>Cardiff Metropolitan University</span><span>’s School of Technologies in Wales, UK. As part of the</span><span>Global Wales</span><span>Partnership Fund, the delegation included Dr.</span><span>Chaminda Thushara Hewage</span><span>(Associate Dean of Research) and Dr. @Rajkumar Singh Rathore (Senior Lecturer &amp; Programme Director MSc Computing and IT).</span><span><br></span><span><br><img src="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/globalpartnerships/posts/146808/attachments/55090" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"><br><br></span><span>We were also joined by visiting scholar-researchers from Brazil under the auspices of the CAPES Foundation: Dr.</span><span>Pedro Pedrosa</span><span>Rebouças Filho (Research Scholar at UMBC's SONG Lab, Professor, and Head of Research at</span><span>LAPISCO - IFCE</span><span>) and Dr. Elizângela de Souza Rebouças (Professor at the IFCE Federal Institute of Ceará and LAPISCO Researcher).</span><span><br></span><span><br></span><span>Highlights:</span><span><br></span><span>- Explored funding opportunities for scoping research and innovation.</span><span><br></span><span>- Discussed partnership areas in international student exchanges, summer programs, internships, faculty-led programs, and research collaborations.</span><span><br></span><span><br><img src="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/globalpartnerships/posts/146808/attachments/55088" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"><br><br></span><span>This visit marked a significant step in strengthening cross-institutional ties and advancing research opportunities.
