The 10th Annual InternationalStudent.com Travel Video Contest is here! This year's lucky winner will take home a $4,000 cash prize and the winner will be announced during International Education Week (in November). 

Anyone studying abroad, or who wants to study abroad, is welcome to submit (this includes both international and study abroad students!). Attached is the flyer which you are welcome to post in your office, listserve or through social. To enter, students would need to submit their 5 minute video telling us why they want to study abroad, or if they are already studying abroad, a trip they want to take. Please remember that UMBC has a Smoke-Free campus policy. UMBC is not the only campus to have this new policy. In fact, 800 campuses in the US are now smoke-free. 

The campus offers many options for students who want to quit smoking: University Health Services offers free visits with a medical provider who will provide support and discuss various options for quitting. You can find more information on the UHS website or can call 410-455-2542 to make an appointment.

Students who choose not to quit can go to one of two locations on campus to smoke:

Behind the Physics Building, next to Parking Lot #2 on Park Road. 

Please be aware that students who smoke anywhere outside of these two locations could get a fine. This fine will prevent students from registering for classes until it is paid.

The staff of the Study Abroad Office is happy to help students plan for the academic program overseas that best meets their academic needs and geographic interests. We do so during our regularly scheduled walk-in advising hours. We can see students during these hours only. 

We also want to gently remind you that all students must attend a session of Study Abroad 101 prior to coming to walk-in hours. These sessions are held twice a week, every week, throughout the semester. They are held on Mondays at noon, Thursdays at 3:00 pm in 218 Administration.

Everyone needs a summer break. So did Study Abroad 101. We're back! All UMBC students interested in a summer, January, semester or year overseas as part of their UMBC degree are required to attend a session of Study Abroad 101, where you can learn more about how to choose a program, transfer your financial aid and scholarships, and take those first steps to internationalize your UMBC degree. 

Study Abroad 101 sessions are held twice a week, every week, throughout the semester in 218 Administration at the following times:

Mondays at 12:00 pm
Thursdays at 3:00 pm

We look forward to helping you start the experience of a lifetime through the Study Abroad Office.
