<Title>Critical Language Scholarship Deadline: 15 November</Title>

    <div class="html-content">Each summer, American undergraduate and graduate students can spend eight to ten weeks learning one of fourteen languages at an intensive study abroad institute through the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program. The CLS Program is a fully funded study abroad program, designed to promote rapid language gains and essential intercultural fluency in regions that are critical to U.S. national security and economic prosperity.  These languages include Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, Indonesian, Swahili, Russian, Arabic, among others. <br><br>Applications for the Summer 2023 CLS Institutes are due November 15, 2022. <Title>Summer Data Co-op Internship @ The BoadStreet Institute</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p><em>Are you interested in being a part of a community data internship? </em></p><p><span>The BroadStreet Institute is a remote, global team of 200 volunteers from around the world gathering community-level data on topics of the day including COVID. We are looking for about 25 intern volunteers to join our team. No data experience needed.<br></span></p><h3>Logistics:</h3><p>This is an 10-week, unpaid volunteer internship.</p><p>Estimated time commitment is 5 to 10-hours per week (Total hours = 50 to 100).
    We recruit 5 times a year with new cohorts starting the first week of the month. </p><h3><strong>Learning Objectives :</strong></h3><ol><li>Gain knowledge about public health surveillance systems in the United States</li><li>Experience a remote, global work environment and develop communication skills unique to the future job market</li><li>Participate in the building of new projects, teams and systems. <Title>The Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship opens July 1st!</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p><strong>The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) scholarship application will open July 1, 2022!</strong> The FEA scholarship invests in deserving U.S. undergraduates who are least likely to study abroad. FEA considers financial need, demographic factors, and academic plan and preparedness to decide scholarship recipients. </p><p><strong>Eligibility Requirements:</strong></p><p>To be eligible for an FEA Scholarship, you must be:</p><p>1) A U.S. citizen or permanent resident.</p><p>2) Currently enrolled as undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S <em>(graduated students are not eligible).</em></p><p>3) Your study abroad program must be eligible for credit at the student's home institution.</p><p>Our office is here to assist you with selecting a study abroad program and the application process for the FEA Scholarship.     <div class="html-content"><h4><span>Wednesdays 4:30pm-7:00pm </span></h4><h5>Synchronous Online Course </h5><div>Session 1 5/31- 6/24</div><div><br></div><p>Join the American Foreign Policy (POLI 390) course this coming summer 1, 4-week session and  obtain upper-level POLI, GLBL and/or GEP SS credit.</p><p> <br>This course provides an overview of American foreign policy with a focus on the post-World War II period. It combines a chronological overview of seminal events with a topical survey of strategic eras from Cold War containment to the war on terror. Competing sources of foreign policy - institutional, bureaucratic and social - psychological are also considered.<br><br></p><span>We will meet four times, online and synchronously and augment that with case studies and films to examine trends in AFP. <br></span><br><div><img src="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/glbl/posts/125537/attachments/43515" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"></div></div>
