    <div class="html-content">Greetings GLBL Majors! <div><br>As you are aware, the schedule of classes for Fall 2021 was published on Monday. Attached you will find a document wherein I have compiled a list of the courses offered in Fall 2021 that fulfil requirements of the Global Studies major. I have also noted the Instruction Mode for these courses (online, hybrid, or in-person) for schedule planning purposes, although please note instruction mode may be subject to change if social distancing requirements or classroom availability change. <br><br><div>Please refer to this list as well as the Course Index on the GLBL website when planning your Fall 2021 schedule to ensure you are registering for courses which will allow you to make progress in your major.  For the earliest date and time you will be able to register for your courses, visit  (<a href="https://registrar.umbc.edu/calendars/registration-appointments/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">https://registrar.umbc.edu/calendars/registration-appointments/</a>). These scholarships enable students to take our courses in statistics, data analysis, and quantitative methods.<br><br>These scholarships provide fee waivers to attend our <a href="https://umich.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4de0acf23f8cd9a943b256ebd&amp;id=4c76b65962&amp;e=1c14fef5ae" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">four-week sessions</a>. The first session begins June 21 and ends July 16, and the second begins on July 19 and ends August 13. Courses will be fully online again this summer, allowing participants to learn from anywhere in the world. Lectures are recorded; there is no need to stay up until all hours of the night (unless you really want to).<br><br>Courses include introductory and advanced regression analysis, time series analysis, Bayesian analysis, machine learning, rational choice theory, SEM, MLE, game theory, longitudinal analysis, multilevel modeling, social choice theory, race/ethnicity and quantitative methodology, data visualization, data science and text analysis, and more.<ul><li><a href="https://umich.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4de0acf23f8cd9a943b256ebd&amp;id=3d50f05bfd&amp;e=1c14fef5ae" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Clogg Scholarship</a>: Open to students conducting research in Sociology</li><li><a href="https://umich.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4de0acf23f8cd9a943b256ebd&amp;id=33bbeb6184&amp;e=1c14fef5ae" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Clubb Scholarship</a>: Open to students conducting research in Quantitative History or related fields</li><li><a href="https://umich.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4de0acf23f8cd9a943b256ebd&amp;id=c1d362fcb1&amp;e=1c14fef5ae" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Diversity Scholarship</a>: Open to graduate students from under-represented groups. Garcia Scholarships</strong> are awarded by the Society for Political Methodology to encourage women and underrepresented graduate students in political science to attend the ICPSR Summer Program. These awards are a waiver of registration fees to attend one or both four-week sessions.</li><li><strong>ISR-Rackham Summer Training Awards</strong> provide funds to support doctoral students from the University of Michigan (across all Rackham Divisions) who would like to take courses with the ICPSR Summer Program or SRC Summer Institute.</li><li><strong>The Hanes Walton, Jr. Award for Quantitative Methods Training</strong> is awarded by the <a href="https://umich.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4de0acf23f8cd9a943b256ebd&amp;id=8f2c47cf55&amp;e=1c14fef5ae" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">National Conference of Black Political Scientists</a> and provides a waiver of registration fees for one or both of the four-week sessions.     <div class="html-content"><p><span>If you haven't yet registered for Spring 2021 or are looking to add another course, consider GLBL 460!! <br><br>This class is an introductory course to </span><span>community-engaged research through digital storytelling</span><span>. We will explore the main concepts and </span><span>methods</span><span> </span><span>of creating and analyzing global stories, mainly through audiovisual production</span><span>. We will look critically at the processes of </span><span>storytelling and community-engaged research</span><span>, and the connections between local and global contexts </span><span>of production and consumption of these stories</span><span>. </span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><span><span>The course will be organized in three simultaneous tracks: reading, viewing and doing. Students will develop a semester long </span><span>E</span><span>-</span><span>P</span><span>ortfolio and use VoiceThread to complement their digital literacy and writing abilities, while audiovisual cultural productions and readings will strengthen their close reading and critical skills. <Title>Spring Advanced Registration Advising Has Begun!</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><span>It is that time of year and once again!  </span><strong>Yesterday evening you will have received an email detailing the advising process for your Global Studies Spring 2021 registration clearance.<br></strong><br><span>The </span><span>Spring 2021</span><span> </span><span>Registration</span><span> Advising and Clearance process will proceed online via form submission. </span><strong> Please complete and submit the following form: <a href="https://forms.gle/WziJWMLU84V9McNg7" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Global Studies Advising Form</a>, </strong><span> I will review your proposed schedule and any other questions you may have, then address them via email or </span><span>phone/webex chat to discuss your concerns further.</span><strong>It is required that ALL Global Majors complete the <a href="https://forms.gle/WziJWMLU84V9McNg7" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Google Form</a> </strong><span>as the first part of their remote </span><span>registration</span><span> advising. Should you have trouble submitting your form, please contact me directly.  <br></span><strong>Please note all NEW Majors are required to meet with me via phone/webex in addition completing the GLBL Advising form. </strong><br><p><span><br>Yesterday you received notice that the </span><span>Spring</span><span> Schedule of Classes is now available. As you are all quite familiar,</span><span> </span><span>GLBL</span><span> </span><span>has over 125 electives spread over 16 UMBC departments. A</span><span>ttached you will find a document wherein I have compiled a list of the courses offered in</span><span> </span><span>Spring</span><span> </span><span>2021 which fulfil requirements of the Global Studies major.
