UMBC honored and thanked George and Betsy Sherman for their commitment to education and their generous support of the University at the dedication of Sherman Hall, formerly Academic IV, on Thursday, September 19.
Over nearly 20 years, the Shermans have committed more than $10 million to help strengthen our efforts to increase the number of well-prepared, highly qualified teachers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) committed to teaching in high-needs schools in the Greater Baltimore area. Their support enabled UMBC to launch the Sherman STEM Teacher Scholars Program in 2006.
