GESCoM Officer Elections

<Tagline>Time to vote for next year's officers!</Tagline>

Hi everyone,

It's time for elections! Please review the bios for each candidate below, then take a moment to vote for our officer positions for the 2021-2022 academic year. https://forms.gle/pKgky59EMbnZHtVC6

My name is Emilie Graham and I am working toward getting my BS in Geography and Environmental Science. When I am not at my desk I am gardening and composting, camping, or traveling to a National Park. I just finished my last class to become a Tree Trooper through the Anne Arundel Watershed Stewards Association and will be attending a Tread Lightly class later this month to become a Tread Lightly Trainer so I can make more classes available in this area. Up until about a year ago, I was the Chair of the Fire Prevention Committee at Glen Burnie Volunteer Fire Company, I stepped down to focus my energy on school, but while I was in that position, I coordinated public outreach and public education events as well as collaborated with the American Red Cross to start a far reaching Smoke Alarm installation campaign in the region.
Lastly, I took an interest in the president’s position because if I can convince just one person the benefits of picking up trash or making better choices for the environment, I can call that a success. Being in such a position that would afford the opportunity to collaborate with other groups or community members is the greatest foothold anyone could ask for. When given the opportunity to do something great for a good cause and the betterment of people, I think you should run with it, so I am!

My name is Sam Kefauver, pronouns he/him/his, and I am a B.S. in Environmental Science and Geography. I am finishing my Sophomore year this Spring and plan to graduate in the Spring of 2023. Other things that I am involved with on campus include being the Secretary of the Lutheran-Episcopal Campus ministry and a member of ChewMBC, the cooking club on campus. I have always been very passionate about the environment, and there are so many things that I want to do with this passion once I finish college. Working for the DNR or Parks Department has always been a dream of mine and is definitely one of the things I would like to do after college. Another would include being involved with an Environmental Justice or Policy program to help bring about positive change for both people and nature. For me, the sky is the limit for the things I want to accomplish and be part of after college, and I know that being the Vice President of the GESCoM will allow me to help others who share similar passions as me put their dreams at the forefront!

I'm Max and I'm a GES major looking to do stuff with ecology or weather and climate stuff. Some hobbies of mine are skateboarding, powerlifting, and fishing. The reason I'm interested in the position is because I want to experience more club stuff like events and running it.

I’m Sierra and I’ll be a senior next year. I’m a double major in Environmental Science and Biology. Other clubs I’m a part of include Red Cross, Intervarsity, and Board Game Club. I’ve previously held board positions within these clubs at UMBC. I have experience as a fundraising chair and look forward to being a bigger part of GESCOM by being the treasurer.
