Did you know that Graduate Assistants are eligible for the Faculty Meal Plans? These meals do not expire and cost less per meal than the student plans ($6.95-$8.70 per meal depending on the plan selected).
Meals in your plan can be used almost everywhere there is food sold on campus - even at the Peake (Chesapeake Employers' Insurance Arena)! Look for a sign indicating what menu items are eligible and included in a meal.
Faculty Meals can even be used at Dunkin! Student meals are not valid there.

The Grants Review Panel (GRP) is led by the GRP Chair and composed of graduate students. Their primary function is to assess and select grant applications based on the guidelines outlined in the GSA Points of Policy. They oversee two grant categories: Professional Development Grants, which support expenses related to attending conferences, workshops, and other professional development opportunities, and Research Grants, which fund thesis-related research costs. The panel evaluates and discusses applications, ensuring that they align with the respective grant categories and financial limits, ultimately making decisions to award grants that facilitate intellectual, professional, and social growth among graduate students.

GEARS (Graduate Education, Awareness, and Research Symposium) is dedicated to offering a platform for students to display their creative achievements, present their research accomplishments, and exchange experiences with fellow peers. Our mission is to foster a welcoming atmosphere that encourages collaboration, enhances communication skills, and celebrates the dedication and achievements of UMBC graduate students. They hold a variety of events ranging from research centric events such as 3 minute thesis competitions, gritty talks to fun events like trivia night, game nights, powerpoint roulette etc.

For more information click here !The Legislative Concerns Committee (informally called the LCC) was established to coordinate the advocacy efforts on state and federal legislation pertaining to graduate students, in addition to supporting students to recognize their larger role in the political process. The LCC is one of the five Graduate Student Association (GSA) standing committees. With approximately 48% of the graduate student body being international graduate students, the LCC is equally concerned with supporting on and off-campus initiatives that support international graduate students. The LCC partners with five primary organizations to promote political and civil engagement, and provide resources to meet graduate student needs. Our on-campus partnerships include The Women's Center,The Shriver Center, Center for Democracy and Civic Life, Retriever Essentials, and the Graduate Assistant Advisory Committee (GAAC). Off-campus, the Legislative Concerns Committee helps to voice graduate student concerns to the local community, representing them for neighborhood relations in Catonsville and Arbutus. The LCC also leads the discussion for the Collective Bargaining Bill, with support from GAAC.

This policy facilitates formal dialogues between Graduate Assistants (GAs) and university administration, addressing employment matters like compensation and benefits. GAAC serves as a dedicated platform for GAs to express their concerns effectively.
