    <div class="html-content"><div>Transitioning into college is not always easy… especially if you are the first in your family to attend, if you are a part of a marginalized community, or if you regularly find yourself with more questions than answers. Don’t worry; we are here to help!</div><div><br></div><div>Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion &amp; Belonging (i3b) has partnered with the Academic Success Center to bring you three sessions that focus on helping you develop the skills and tools you need to experience first-year success! <strong>Sessions will occur f</strong><strong>rom 6:00-7:30 p.m in the Mosaic Center (232B Commons Building</strong>). Not only will we explore academic success skills and principles, but we will also explore tools for navigating issues of discrimination, bias, and microaggressions within academic spaces and focus on the many ways our identities are assets within the college environment.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>9/28: </strong><a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/themosaic/events/95013" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Exploring Success Skills and Tools for First Year &amp; Transitioning Students</a> - This session will explore university resources and key skills for first-year transition success and connect you with upper-class students who share their stories and recommendations for first-year success.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>10/5: </strong><a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/themosaic/events/95014" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Knowing What to Expect and How to Navigate Identity-Based Challenges</a> - This session will explore issues of bias, discrimination, and microaggressions and how they show up in university spaces. <Title>Student Caregiver Study</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>We are excited to announce that UMBC is participating in a research study to understand the experiences of informal (unpaid) student caregivers. An informal caregiver is someone who provides assistance with activities such as transportation, shopping, finances, bathing or dressing to a spouse, family member, friend or neighbor. Researchers are interested in understanding what</div><div>challenges students face while being a caregiver and what resources are most helpful to reach academic goals. You will receive an email in the next few weeks containing a link to the short survey. <Title>Boil Water Advisory for parts of Baltimore</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><span><p><span>Good afternoon Retrievers!</span></p><p><span><br></span></p><p><span>As you may have heard, on Monday, September 5, Baltimore City sent out an advisory for some residents to boil their water in response to the detection of E. coli in samples of the water supply to West Baltimore.</span></p><p><span><br></span></p><p><span>While the UMBC campus was not included in the advisory, we know that we have a large number of students who are living off campus and want to share <a href="https://publicworks.baltimorecity.gov/node/22547" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">information on  what to do and where to find water if you are living in an impacted area</a>. General information is also available from the Centers for Disease Control. All students are required to activate a new virtual on-campus parking permit each August. Please do not sign up for a visitor account; UMBC does not issue parking permits for visitors.<br></span></div><ul><li><span><strong>New Students</strong>: Please go to the <a href="https://t.e2ma.net/click/385d0i/rz6uebc/rvr098" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">UMBC Parking Services Portal</a>, register your vehicle(s), and activate your virtual permit.<br></span></li><li><span><strong>Returning Students</strong>: Please go to the <a href="https://t.e2ma.net/click/385d0i/rz6uebc/7ns098" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">UMBC Parking Services Portal</a> to review your account for any outstanding fines, verify/update your vehicle information, and activate your new virtual permit. <br></span></li></ul><div><span>Parking enforcement will begin on August 31; those who park on campus without a valid permit will be issued a citation.<br> <br><strong>Registering your vehicle is not the same as getting a permit.</strong> Once vehicles are registered, please click on the "Get Permit" button. Parking permits must be renewed every August prior to the start of the new academic year. You may register up to three vehicles. However, you may only have one vehicle on campus at a time. Once you have registered your vehicle, please click on the "Get Permit" button. Failure to complete this step means no permit has been issued to you and as a result, you may be issued a citation.<br> <br><strong>Parking Permit Overview</strong><br><a href="https://t.e2ma.net/click/385d0i/rz6uebc/ngt098" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Student parking permits</a> are assigned as follows:<br></span></div><ul><li><span>Zone A (red): Commuter students<br></span></li><li><span>Zone B (green): Walker Avenue apartment residents<br></span></li><li><span>Zone C (gold): Residential students (second year and higher) <br></span></li><li><span>Zone F (orange): First-year residential students are eligible for an "F" permit and are required to park in the <a href="https://t.e2ma.net/click/385d0i/rz6uebc/38t098" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Satellite Lot on South Rolling Road</a> during the hours of 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday - Friday.
