B&B is a series where participants can discuss important global, national, and pop-culture topics with the backdrop lens of religion and spirituality. Anxiety Toolbox is a series of 3 workshops designed to help people learn about anxiety and some basic skills to help identify and manage anxious thoughts and behaviors. This first session focuses on understanding what anxiety is and uses activities and breathing exercises to begin the practice of building your toolbox!
This is a non-clinical series provided by Retriever Integrated Health, so no appointments or consultations are required and any UMBC community member can join this virtual session! If you can only make it to 1 or 2 of the workshops, that's ok too.

Looking to learn more about sustanability? Look no further
Are you a student looking for an amazing opportunity? Come and learn about how interconnected the field of sustainability is. Students from UMBC, UMD, Anne Arundel Community College, University of Florida, University of Missouri, and more are organizing a fully student-led sustainability conference that's first of it's kind with the goal of maximizing community engagement through an emphasis on the concept of “Sustainability for All ”.
The theme of the conference is based on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

- Good Health and Wellbeing
- Affordable and Clean Energy
- Life on Earth
- Sustainable Development
- Equity in Action
The summit is focused on creating a platform for students across the globe not only to provide an equitable opportunity to learn about sustainability in various fields, including science, technology, education, economics, policy, environmental justice, psychology, etc., from renowned experts but also serves as a unique space for students to inspire their peers by exhibiting their sustainability efforts.
We would be grateful if you could circulate the attached flyer and the following information to the members of your organization and your network.

Come join us for Love your body day! A collaboration between SGA, RIH, the Women's Center, Curl Pwr, the RAC, NAMI, the Women of Color Coalition, and the Office of Health Promotions. This event takes place this Thursday, March 28th, from 12-2 on Commons Main Street and will feature snacks, treats, goodie bags, and more!
From the Classroom to the Courtroom
The English Department will host two events relating to law and restorative justice on March 27th, 2024, inspired by the career path of 2018 UMBC English Alumna Breia Lassiter. She will return to UMBC to share her experiences with the university community.
12-1 pm. Library Gallery. “From the Classroom to the Courtroom: 2018 UMBC English Alumna Breia Lassiter Tells Her Story.” Breia Lassiter (Juris Doctor, Michigan State University), Associate Attorney in the Employment Law practice group of Dinsmore & Shohl, a law firm in Cincinnati, Ohio, will discuss her personal history from her days as an English major at UMBC, through law school and work as a student clinician at Michigan State University, to taking the bar exam, passing it, and finally now working as an Associate Attorney at a law firm. This talk will be of interest to all Alumni, and to Pre Law, English, and other CAHSS majors, in particular, who are considering career paths in public service.

Alternative Spring Break 2024 (waitlist applications now open)
Spots in ASB 2024 are now full. However, you may still complete the application if you would like to be added to the waitlist.
Alternative Spring Break (ASB) is a five-day immersive learning experience in which UMBC undergraduate and graduate students explore the systemic and human dimensions of complex social issues in Baltimore. Participants build connections with local leaders, organizations, and policy makers and develop a sophisticated understanding of available resources and challenges. The program helps participants identify pathways to long-term community engagement.
This year’s ASB program will take place from Monday, March 18 - Friday, March 22, 2024. ASB participants spend much of the program in small groups (co-led by undergraduate students trained by the Center for Democracy and Civic Life) focused on exploring a specific topic in depth. ASB 2024 groups will focus on:
- Educational Justice for LGBT+ Youth (co-led by Madison Brown and Musa Jafri)
- Immigrant Health Justice (co-led by Simone Acquaye and Kina Soberano)
- Improving Life After Prison (co-led by Aidan Hunter and Alberta Ndille)
The Center for Democracy and Civic Life hosts ASB. More information on this program is available below.
