Our next volunteer event is next Saturday, November 3rd from 10-1. We will be planting trees with Gunpowder Valley Conservancy. We have officially opened our sign up sheet, which you can find
here.
This is a great opportunity to get outside and make a difference. The trees we are planting help protect the local watershed, and in turn the Chesapeake Bay. Carpools will be arranged as there is limited parking available. See the attached flyer or
this website for more info!

Volunteer Opportunity: Coastal Clean Up

Hi everyone, here is an October volunteer opportunity for you. This was shared with us by Charm City Connection, another service org on campus. They're hoping to get a big group of UMBC students to come!
"Join the Aquarium Conservation Team to remove harmful marine debris from the shoreline at the Masonville Cove Environmental Education Center campus. Learn about sources and effects of marine debris, and what you can do to help! Debris data collected at this event will contribute to the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup.
Volunteers must be at least 10 years old. All volunteers under 18 years old will need to be supervised by an adult. Please contact Andrea Van Wyk at avanwyk@aqua.org or (410) 576-1079 if you have questions or need transportation to the cleanup site"

Reminder: MD Chapters Meet Up Tomorrow 10/13
12-3 PM in PAHB 107 - Attendance Strongly Recommended
Tomorrow is our meet up with the other EWB-USA chapters in Maryland, including UMD College Park, John's Hopkins, Montgomery College, and one of the professional chapters.
This is an awesome networking opportunity to meet others who share your values, and an opportunity to learn more about EWB. Come for the whole time, stop by for a little bit, whatever fits your schedule. We very strongly encourage member attendance since it is a great way to strengthen your involvement.
We will also be providing lots of free snacks including candy, cookies, buffalo chicken dip, chips and salsa, and more!

We want all members to join a committee! Here are the committee meeting times/locations:
- Grant/Research Committee Meeting: (Today) Tuesday, 10/9 at 4 pm in Commons 327
- Public Relations/Volunteer Committee Meeting: (Tomorrow) Wednesday, 10/10 at 12 pm in ITE 239
Special Events:
- EWB Game Night: Tomorrow, (Wed.) 10/10 at 7pm in ITE. Come have some fun, play games, and eat pizza! Feel free to bring any games you have.
- Maryland EWB Chapter Meetup: Saturday, 10/13 from 12-3pm in PAHB 107. Come meet some of the members of other EWB chapters in Maryland! This is a great opportunity to meet new people and learn more about EWB-USA. Snacks will be provided during the meeting, and there is the opportunity to join us for dinner off campus afterwards (paying for yourself) Members are expected to attend- please let us know if there is a conflict where you are unable to go at umbc.ewb@gmail.com.

Final Call for Canoe and Scoop!
Tomorrow 10am-1pm
Hi everyone,
We wanted to offer one last opportunity to sign up for Canoe and Scoop tomorrow! A few spots opened up, so we'd love to fill those. It'll be a really fun event- we'll be canoeing around Middle Branch Park and cleaning up the shoreline.
We will be meeting at 9:00am tomorrow in the Commons on the first floor for check in. Rides will be arranged after check in, and we'll be heading out after that. If you're attending, make sure you eat beforehand, wear clothes that can get dirty/wet, and bring some water.
We're excited to see everyone!

Canoe and Scoop - 3 Spots Left!
Sign up ASAP!
Just a reminder that Canoe and Scoop, our first volunteer event of the year, is this Sunday, September 30th from 10am-1pm. We will be paddling around the waters of Middle Branch Park and cleaning up debris from the shoreline.
Don't miss out on this unique experience, sign up for one of the 3 remaining spots! We'd love to start the semester out strong with a full event.
If for some reason you signed up and are now unable to make it, please remove your name from the sign up to free spots up for other members.
Also, today (Tuesday) is the first committee meeting for the Grant/Research Committee at 4pm in Commons 327.
PR/Volunteer Committee's first meeting is tomorrow (Wednesday) at 12pm in ITE 239.
