Notice and Respond Session with Counseling Center

Wednesday, November 9, 10 a.m. – 12pm (Commons RM 329).

Emotional distress is an expected part of a college student's experience, whether the source is academic, personal, social, family, or financial. Some students are able to cope effectively, with little adverse impact on their academics or social life, while others struggle to varying degrees. Due to your presence on campus and the amount of interaction you have with students, you are in a good position to recognize those students who exhibit troubled behavior. While it's certainly impossible to notice and assist all of them, being observant and showing that you are concerned can go a long way toward helping a struggling student. Come and learn more about supporting students at the UMBC Counseling Center session: Notice and Respond. Spots for 30 ppl. Don't miss out!

Two attendees will be randomly selected to their choice of 1 acupuncture or massage session.

As you know a spectacular celebration of UMBC's 50th Anniversary is occurring later this month, September 16-19th. To help make this event a success, there is an event team assisting in a variety of ways. Please consider joining the Event Team for a couple of hours, to assure we achieve our goals for excellent hospitality and smooth operations of the events. These opportunities are within the events and will offer a fun and enjoyable experience. Nonexempt employees will be eligible for comp time and overtime, and supervisors are encouraged to provide schedule flexibility for exempt staff who serve on the event team.

There are many ways that you can join the event team and support the 50th Anniversary Weekend. View a list of volunteer opportunities here and sign-up online.

All event team members will receive a UMBC Grit & Greatness t-shirt, a water bottle and a complimentary ticket to the Decades Dance Party in appreciation of your efforts. We'll also provide you with snacks, fun, and gratitude!
