Whether it be in preparation for your PMP, some change in your life dynamics, or just a normal catch up with your supervisor, the PSS Work-Life Balance (WLB) Committee believes that work-life balance should be an ongoing conversation. However, we know that sometimes initiating that conversation with a supervisor or colleague can be daunting. As a starting point, the WLB committee developed the Staff Work-Life Balance Reflection guide.
Use it as a blueprint for how you think about, advocate for, and engage in the beginning discussions around your own work-life balance. You’ll find questions, and a variety of sample responses to think about before approaching your supervisor. If you find it useful, please let us know! Or, if there are other resources that you would find helpful, we’d like to know that, too. Good luck on your work-life balance journey, and keep in touch!

The UMBC Staff Cookout, hosted by Professional Staff and Non-Exempt Staff Senates, will take place on Thursday, June 16th and is open to all UMBC staff members. The event will feature classic BBQ food (including vegetarian options), a raffle open to our in-person and virtual guests, and more!

Don't Lose Your Leave!
From the Department of Human Resources:
Please share with your department:
As we come to the close of the spring semester and head towards the summer season, employees should continue to monitor their 'use or lose' leave. Please be advised of the following:
- The maximum annual leave carry over into calendar year 2023 has reverted back to 400 hours (pro-rated for part-time employees).
- The last day to use 2022 excess annual and unused personal leave is December 31, 2022.
- Personal leave hours for calendar year 2023 will be available for use on January 1, 2023.
