- A current supervisor who wants a tune-up on today's critical foundational managerial competencies to support your team?
If you answered 'yes,' we invite you to explore UMBC's new LEAP Leadership Development Academy that launches this March!
LEAP is a 5-month leadership development academy designed to provide the critical professional competencies and people skills that new people managers need to be effective at leading others and teams.
This program will be delivered hybrid cohort-style with live in-person instructional sessions and virtual team coaching sessions. Participants will also receive an All-Access Pass to FranklinCovey's Impact Portal where they will have access to additional resources. To aid participants in developing self-awareness, a 360 degree evaluation will be included which will form the basis of personal learning goals.

Nomination Information & Deadline: The LEAP nomination process is both a self-selected process and supervisor/leader nominated program. Student Conduct and Community Standards is offering their Building Campus Community two-day, face-to-face training next week on Wednesday, January 17 and Thursday, January 18 in The Center for Well-Being.

Since 2015, we have trained over 500 faculty, staff, and students in restorative practices. These techniques are useful to managing conflict and repairing harm in classrooms, workplaces, residence halls, and family systems. Reminder for end-of-year text and imagery

As the weather (slightly) cools and the end of the semester draws near, we want to encourage our campus communicators to keep inclusive text and imagery in mind when crafting end-of-year messages and greetings.
UMBC is a community of people of all backgrounds who practice a variety of religious traditions, and those who practice none. In producing content for broad audiences, content creators should show respect and recognition of this fact by avoiding language or imagery that centers on one religion, assumes shared religious-cultural experiences (or assumes religious affiliation in general), or elevates one religion over another.
As communicators we should aim to honor our community members' religious traditions, encourage folks to share them if they'd like, and learn about their experiences while still maintaining inclusive communications.
