<Title>University System of Maryland Shared Governance Survey</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>Dear Colleagues, </div><div><br></div><div>On behalf of the Council of University System Staff (CUSS) and the Council of University System Faculty (CUSF), we are seeking your participation in a brief survey to gauge your awareness of and the strengths and growth opportunities for shared governance efforts on your campus and within the University System of Maryland. When functioning properly, shared governance, for those who are unaware, is a system where committee(s) of faculty, staff, and students advise campus/system leadership on policies/procedures/issues, giving a voice to all three groups. </div><div><br></div><div>This survey is anonymous (the survey platform will not collect any identifying information from respondents, including IP and email addresses) and should take no more than five minutes to complete. <Title>Arbutus Arts Festival ~ Sunday, May 19, 10 AM - 5 PM</Title>
<Tagline>Enjoy a day of crafters, music, food, and fun in Arbutus!</Tagline>

    <div class="html-content"><span>Join us for the 2024 Arbutus Arts Festival on Sunday, May 19! The festival takes place on East Drive and Linden Avenue in downtown Arbutus and will include more than 200 crafters selling a variety of creations, along with food, music, and a Children's Corner. The Festival will happen rain or shine and runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.</span><div><br></div><div>This Arts Festival is a wonderful opportunity to get to know our neighboring community of Arbutus. It also provides an opportunity to give back by volunteering. The Arts Festival is seeking volunteers to help at the Children's Corner, an area just for kids and their families that will include an electric train, face painting, a petting zoo, pony rides, carnival games, and more. </div><div><br></div><div><strong>If you would like to volunteer at the Children's Corner, please <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/173sQidmQodT-bE7_V1n8GJXYqSzjRxi0KsqYLwiV6Aw/edit" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">complete this form</a>.</strong> The Arts Festival can provide service learning or community service documentation if needed. We are the official representative body of professional, or exempt, staff employed at UMBC. What do we do? We provide a forum for discussing issues involving or of interest to exempt staff members, such as academic and administrative policies. Some of these topics have included work-life balance, campus climate, employee benefits, and state budget updates and impacts. We work diligently to maintain and contribute to community life at UMBC by organizing events for staff and volunteering for non-PSS sponsored events. Each member serves on selected subcommittees of their choosing regarding certain policies or procedures.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>What is the Council of University System Staff (CUSS)?</strong> Staff serving on the Council represent all staff at UMBC at the system-level. Council representatives and alternates report to the Chancellor and Presidents and share staff concerns across the University System of Maryland (USM). UMBC will have 6 CUSS members including 3 Representatives (2 Exempt &amp; 1 Non-Exempt) and 3 Alternates (2 Exempt &amp; 1 Non-Exempt).
