    <div class="html-content"><p><img src="https://socialscience.umbc.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/541/2023/10/Ep-47-Mark-Chang-Const-Day.png" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"></p><p>On this episode we hear a rebroadcast of the <a href="https://youtu.be/e5siOBhgizM" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">2023 UMBC Constitution Day Lecture</a>, organized by the <a href="https://politicalscience.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Department of Political Science</a> and cosponsored by UMBC's Center for Social Science Scholarship.</p><p>The lecture, which took place in September of 2023, was given by keynote speaker <a href="https://msa.maryland.gov/msa/mdmanual/06hse/html/msa17071.html" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Delegate Mark S. Chang</a>. Delegate Chang has represented the 32nd District in the Maryland House of Delegates (Anne Arundel County) since 2015, and also serves as the Vice Chair of the Appropriations Committee, among a variety of other vital committee positions in our state legislature.     <div class="html-content"><span>The <a href="https://www.usmd.edu/about_usm/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">University System of Maryland</a> encompasses 12 institutions, including UMBC, and three regional higher education centers. It employs more than 16,000 faculty members and 25,000 staff members, and owns almost 1,000 buildings. Its annual operating budget is more than $5 billion. There are more than 170,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at its various institutions.</span><div><br></div><div>How would you like to represent all of those students as a member of the <a href="https://www.usmd.edu/regents/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Board of Regents</a>, the system's governing body?<div><br></div><div>Please take a look at this <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oTfALdYNsFlWcV-cjbvyMQcUmV0dIFaT/view?usp=sharing" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">description of the Student Regent position</a> and consider applying. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School, and has practiced law in a variety of contexts: at a big D.C. law firm, in-house at a large corporation and now at the World Wildlife Fund, and he even was a college professor for a couple of years.  He will have a conversation with us, hearing your thoughts and questions about law school, your legal career, etc., and sharing ideas about charting your career path and finding your place in the law.  <br></div><div><br></div><div>Lunch will be provided!</div></div>
