The Women’s Center Advisory Board is a collective of faculty, staff, and students (graduate and undergraduate) with an interest in the process associated with developing and maintaining the UMBC Women’s Center.

Board Members are asked to participate in a monthly board meeting, scheduled for the first Friday of each month during the academic year.  This forum allows the Director to share information about the Center and similarly allows the board members to share their knowledge, wisdom and unique perspectives.

In addition to advising the Director, Board Members help and give support in the planning, programming, and public relations of the Center via various sub-committees. These responsibilities would entail additional hours of commitment outside of the monthly board meetings.

Board members are appointed for two-year terms, with possibility of renewal.

The Women’s Center seeks to serve a diverse population of women, as well as men interested in gender and women’s issues.  As a result, a diverse board is sought to assure that varying needs and interests are represented.

Are you eligible for the Charlotte Newcombe Scholarship and the UMBC Scholarship for returning students? You must answer YES to the following questions to be eligible.

• Are you a student 25 years old or older?

• Are you working toward your first undergraduate degree?

• Are you enrolled for fall and/or spring classes?

• Have you earned at least 60 credits?

• Do you have at least a 2.5 GPA?

• Are you in financial need?

• Are you willing to attend group meetings and/or contact meetings that are designed to help support you as a mature women?

V-DAY is coming and we need volunteers who'd be interested in reading excerpts of "The Vagina Monologues"!

The Women's Center is still celebrating its 20th Anniversary and will continue doing so into the Spring semester! 

Every year, the President’s Commission for Women (PCW) recognizes a faculty or staff member on campus who has directly contributed to promoting women’s issues and/or eliminating gender inequality. Nominations are available and are awaiting you to nominate that awesome someone on campus. This is your chance to tell someone, “thanks for the work you’ve been doing… it hasn’t gone unnoticed!”
