<Title>Rebuilding Manhood Appplications Now Available for Fall 2014</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><h4><strong>Rebuilding Manhood Applications are now available! </strong></h4><div><br></div><h5><em>What do you enjoy about being a man? What do you wish was different?<br>What does it mean to be a man? When and how did you learn to become a man? </em></h5><div><br></div><div>Explore these questions and more through Rebuilding Manhood. In a safe (and brave) space you will discuss gender roles, norms/variations, and build a healthy, multifaceted masculinity with other UMBC undergraduate men. Through the facilitation of UMBC staff members and a peer facilitator, you will discuss topics related to being a <span>man parallel to other important social identities and explore ways you can be an effective ally for yourself, women, and others.</span></div><div><br></div><div><strong>Rebuilding Manhoodis an 11-week commitment. <Title>Returning Women Students Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><h5>The Women's Center is excited to expand our Returning Women Students Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program which was in its pilot year last fall. </h5><h5><br>This program connects newer returning* women undergraduate students one-on-one with more experienced returning women undergraduate student mentors who strive to provide them with personal, academic, and professional support and guidance. <br><br></h5><h5>In addition to building the individual relationships between the mentoring partners, all participants attend a welcome orientation (on Thursday, August 21st from 12-3pm) and participate in various workshops and events. <span>All participants are also encouraged to attend Returning Women’s Forum events and other Women’s Center programming. </span></h5><div><em><br></em></div><div>* * * * * * * * * * * * * * </div><h5><strong>What are the benefits of being a Peer Mentor?</strong></h5><div>Are there things you know now that you wish you had known as a new student at UMBC? <Title>Arts and Humanities Summer 2014 Courses with MCS!</Title>

    <div class="html-content">In session one (May 27-July 3) MCS is offering MCS 222 (AH; 3 credits) on Monday and Wednesday from 1p-4:10p.  <br><br>
    
    <div><span>MCS 222 offers students an introduction to the critical perspectives and research methods that are central to the analysis of mass communication policy and programming, new media, interpersonal communication, and audience reception. The course will provide students the skills to design and apply a range of interdisciplinary concepts and methods to media analysis projects. Themes of the course will situate various forms of media within specific historical and cultural contexts.</span><br></div><br><br>In session two (July 7-Aug. 15) MCS is offering MCS 101 (AH; 4 credits) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1p-3:50p.<br><br>
    
    <div><span>MCS 101 is designed to help students critically engage with the media of communication, information, entertainment, and surveillance that surround us. Critical engagement includes understanding the history, political economy, and rhetorical power of these media. It also includes an introduction to the basic skills of multi-modal media production. Reading, writing, editing, composing, and publishing these traditional liberal arts skills are at the heart of this new media literacy, along with newer ones like remixing.</span>
