The purpose of the Second Generation Scholarship Award is to provide support to outstanding UMBC undergraduates who have demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of minorities. The amount of the scholarship varies from year to year.
For the 2014-2015 academic year, two $1,000 scholarship will be given. The recipients will be notified in early November and the awards will be formally presented at the W.E.B. Dubois Lecture on November 12, 2014. Attendance at the lecture is mandatory.
The student selected to receive this award should:

]]>We have a new cash to card machine in the print/copy/scan area! Now you don’t have to go to the RLC only to add money to your ID card.
It takes general funds for printing/copying/scanning, food funds, etc., and you have to specify which you are adding. The new machine takes any bill between $1.00 and $100.00, but doesn’t give change.
The guest card you can buy here is $ 0.50.
Directions for use are on the top of the machine.

The Counseling Center would like to announce that we are offering new online mental health screenings through ULifeline (www.ulifeline.org/umbc). The screenings are free, anonymous and confidential. They cover a wide variety of topics including depression, anxiety, social anxiety, eating problems, alcohol and drug use, and thoughts of self-harm. On ULifeline, students can also get tips on wellness (sleep, exercise, nutrition, stress management and healthy relationships) and how to help others.
ULifeline is sponsored by The Jed Foundation, an organization that focuses on mental health in the college student population.
