The lighting of these lamps, along with celebratory fireworks meant to ward off evil spirits, signifies a spiritual awakening and the coming of prosperity. It is a time for family gatherings, sharing traditional sweets and savory foods, and strengthening bonds with loved ones.

The Five Days of Diwali

Dhanteras (Oct 18)

Naraka Chaturdashi or Choti Diwali (Oct 19)

Lakshmi Puja (The main day: Oct 20)

Goverdhan Puja, Balipratipada, or Annakut (Oct 21 or 22, depending on region)

Bhai Dooj, Bhai Tika, or Bhai Bij (Oct 22 or 23, depending on region)

Some snacks or foods you may find during Diwali are:

Ladoo/Laddu: Round sweet balls made from various flours, nuts, and ingredients.
