    <div class="html-content"><div><div><div><div><div><div><h5>Global Asias Symposium &amp; Celebration<br>Monday, May 4<br>11am-6:30pm</h5><div><br></div><div>This daylong event will showcase and celebrate the work of the Global Asias Initiative, a three-year initiative funded by the Mellon Foundation that has created a forum for engaging in conversations in the fields of Asian American Studies, Asian diaspora studies, and Asian Studies. The Initiative has has created connections across disciplines, institutions, organizations, and communities here on campus and beyond.</div></div><div><br><div>With our grant from Mellon Foundation coming to a close this year, we are showcasing the many achievements of the initiative. The day will feature a luncheon on heritage, belonging and identity in collaboration with Student Affairs, a visiting scholar keynote address on public humanities and Global Asias, and a student exhibition and reception in the library gallery &amp; rotunda featuring community partners and programming.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Thank you to our partners</strong> the Asian Studies Program, Mosaic: The Center for Cultural Diversity, Residential Life, McNairs Scholars Program, and the Baltimore chapter of National Association of Asian American Professionals for support organizing this celebration. </div><div><br></div><div>Stay tuned for more information coming your way!</div><div><br></div><div><em>Repost from the Global Asias Initiative.     <div class="html-content"><div><div>Dear Graduate Students,</div><div><br></div><div>The Office for Academic &amp; Pre-Professional Advising has openings available for Summer Orientation Advisors! Advisors meet with incoming undergraduate students VIRTUALLY during the months of June through August in one-on-one sessions to plan out and register for classes. No previous experience is required, and we will provide all training necessary!</div><div><br></div><div>Besides compensation, this is a rare chance for graduate students to gain professional and interpersonal experience. Depending on your field, your time as a student may not open you up to many client-facing interactions, and this is a pathway to gaining that experience. If you are considering a career in academia, meanwhile, advising experience is highly sought-after in faculty openings.</div><div><br></div><div>Advisors are eligible to be compensated at the rate of $100 per afternoon session and $50 per evening or morning session. Participants are also eligible to earn the Orientation Advisor microcredential!
