    <p><span><span><strong>What are Writing Accountability Group, or WAGs at UMBC?</strong></span></span></p>
    <ul>
    <li><p><span>What: </span><span>Writing Accountability Groups (WAGs) are voluntary and facilitated by fellow UMBC graduate students</span></p></li>
    <li><p><span>Who: </span><span>WAGs are comprised of a group of graduate students (usually 4-8 participants per group) interested in developing writing habits and accountability </span></p></li>
    <li><p><span>Why: </span><span>Develop habits of writing every day for a short, manageable period of time by setting goals and being accountable to WAG peers </span></p></li>
    <li><p><span>When: </span><span>WAG groups meet once a week for 60-90 minutes for 10-12 weeks. The group finds a weekly time mutually convenient to all group members.</span></p></li>
    <li><p><span>Where: </span><span>The group decides on a mutually convenient location to meet, whether in person or online via WebEx or other video conferencing platform</span></p></li>

    <h4>Opportunities in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering</h4>

    <div>D'Juan Moreland '23, biological sciences and music; Rachel Myers '23, chemical engineering; Christopher Slaughter '23, computer engineering; and Tobi Majekodunmi '23, mechanical engineering are our representatives for 2022. Will you join them in 2023?</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>The Goldwater Scholarship supports outstanding students interested in research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering. The scholarship covers undergraduate eligible expenses for tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to $<strong>7,500 per academic year for up to 2 years</strong>.</div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div><strong>ELIGIBILITY</strong></div>
    <div>To be considered for nomination, a student must:</div>
    <div><ul>
    <li>Have a minimum of one semester and no more than two years of undergraduate study remaining beginning September 2023.</li>
    <li>Be pursuing a bachelor's degree on a full-time basis.</li>
    <li>Have an average GPA &gt; 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.</li>
    <li>Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.</li>
    <li>Have a demonstrated interest in a research career in the natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering.</li>
    <li>Be nominated by his or her college or university via the official online nomination application.</li>

    <p><span><strong>Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion &amp; Belonging (i3b) </strong>helps faculty, staff, students, and students develop the knowledge, awareness, and skills to cultivate an inclusive and social justice-oriented campus community. </span><span><strong>In short, we provide student-facing diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice programming, leadership development, dialogue facilitation, and training, in addition to lounge and community building spaces in our three identity, inclusion, and belonging </strong><strong>spaces across campus.</strong></span></p>

    <div><span>Beginning on the first day of classes, the Women's Center will start welcoming community members into our physical space!</span></div>

    <span>In order to protect our collective health</span><span>, we encourage social distancing while in the lounge space, and may enforce capacity limits for larger events. In addition, we ask that community members continue to wear masks in our spaces. </span>

    <div class="html-content">Retriever Essentials, AOK Library, and So What Else? are teaming up to bring fresh foods to campus every Thursday starting on September 1st in Lot 7 by AOK Library!<div>

    <div>Come by from 2-3 PM, bring your own bag, and grab some fruits and veggies! Stock comes from recovered food that would otherwise go to waste, and will be available until we run out.</div>

    Amanda Gorman is an American poet and activist. Her work focuses on issues of oppression, feminism, race, and marginalization, as well as the African diaspora. Gorman was the first person to be named <strong>National Youth Poet Laureate</strong>. She published the poetry book <em>The One for Whom Food Is Not Enough</em> in 2015. </div>

    <div>In 2021, she delivered her poem "<em>The Hill We Climb</em>" at the inauguration of U.S. <strong>President Joe Biden</strong>.</div>
