The UMBC Department of Education Research Seminar concludes the spring semester with a presentation by Dr. Laura Ascenzi-Moreno of Brooklyn College. Dr. Ascenzi-Moreno introduces the concept of translanguaging as it relates to literacy instruction. She examines translanguaging as an expansive theory that draws on multimodal and cultural resources while remaining rooted in anticolonial perspectives. From this expanded, decolonial framework, she explores how translanguaging theory can support the reshaping and reimagining of traditional literacy structures.
All members of the department, partners/collaborators, and students/faculty from other departments and institutions are invited to attend. Lunch will be provided by the department.
