Open registration is now in progress.  That means all students, including incoming freshman and transfer students, are enrolling in classes for next Fall 2021.  

If you are a returning student, and you haven't already, you need to get on registration now... before the classes you need fill or the one's left don't fit your schedule.

Remember that all students who register for classes at UMBC have to be advised and CLEARED by an academic advisor, program director or an assigned faculty advisor before they can enroll in Fall or Spring semesters.  

For Econ and Financial Econ students, check your MARCH 4th EMAIL for your advisor assignment - it's either the CAHSS Econ Department Advisor (that's me!) or an assigned faculty advisor.

If you can't find that email, you can contact me or one of the Econ Department Admins for your advisor assignment.

Now... get out there and enroll in those classes!

We, at Prince George's Community College, are running a summer camp, please see attached flyer.  The motivation for the camp is the lack of women and minorities in the discipline of economics. 

We are seeking students from 4 year institutions who are economics majors to share their experience as economics majors and to highlight key aspects of their institution's economics programs. 

The camp will be done virtually from July 12th to 15th (10 to 1 pm).  The student presenters would be available on one of the days for a period of 2 hours for a discussion with the campers and a Q &A session.  We will also have paid opportunities available for Camp Assistants to lead break out groups.

Several scholarships and awards are available to students in Economics and Administrative Sciences. 

The Gerald Goldman Scholarship

Gerald Goldman was one of the first undergraduate students at UMBC. Unfortunately, he was unable to complete his program of study. During the summer of his senior year, Gerald suffered a tragic accident while working on a construction job. His family and friends decided that a memorial scholarship in his honor would provide an appropriate remembrance. The Gerald R. Goldman Scholarship Fund was established as an endowed fund in 1974, and in 1975 the first annual scholarship was awarded.

The Omicron Delta Epsilon Scholarship

The Omicron Delta Epsilon Scholarship Fund was established by the members of the Epsilon of Maryland Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon in 1979. A scholarship has been awarded each year since 1982 to an outstanding economics student at UMBC.

The Economics and Administrative Sciences Alumni Association Charles F. Peake Scholarship

Additional Scholarships

In most years, generous alumni of the economics department or their families provide one year scholarships to outstanding students majoring in economics or in financial economics. The specific scholarships that will be available vary from year to year.

Scholarship Applications

Applications for scholarships are made available to students in March each year. The call for applications is distributed to students each year, through e-mail and this web page. Winners of scholarships and awards are announced at the annual Economics Awards Reception held in the Spring.
