PREDOC’s 2024 Summer Course is now accepting applications.  This synchronous, remote summer course is designed to introduce rising sophomores and juniors to the breadth of quantitative social science research, and to equip them with technical skills so that they can be competitive on the pre-doc and graduate school markets.  

The course culminates in an in-person undergraduate research conference in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.  

The course is free of charge, and all students will receive a $2,000 stipend.  All travel expenses to and from the undergraduate research conference will be covered by PREDOC.  Applications are due March 23.

The General Sessions are available either in person or online, live or asynchronously. All materials for the Sessions are available through December 31, 2024. Courses in these Sessions are the equivalent of a semester-long class, quickly strengthening and advancing skills in statistics, data analysis, and quantitative methods! What is the ICPSR Summer Program? The ICPSR Summer Program has taught research methods and data analysis for over 60 years, training tens of thousands of students, faculty, and researchers across the social sciences and beyond. From introductory statistics to advanced techniques, the curriculum is designed to fit the needs of researchers throughout their careers. The ICPSR Summer Program is world-renowned for its premier quality of instruction, fun learning environment, and unparalleled networking opportunities.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics is holding information sessions about the Student Monthly Labor Review (MLR) to introduce the program to undergraduate students. The Student MLR is a pilot program available under the MLR banner that is dedicated to publishing social science research by undergraduate students. The program provides an opportunity for students to refine their analytical abilities, receive comments from experienced professionals, develop their research conjectures for graduate study, gain professional experience, and produce new knowledge. Subjects that the Student MLR publishes include, but are not exclusive to, demographics, labor economics, prices, environment, community research, and social statistics.

The two information sessions will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM ET and on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 5:00 PM ET. Note that both events will present the same information.
