Anita Griner, a Graduate Faculty member in UMBC's Engineering Management program, has joined Cognosante, a leading provider of consulting and health technology, as the Chief Performance Officer. Anita Griner, a Graduate Faculty member in UMBC's Engineering Management program, has joined Cognosante, a leading provider of consulting and health technology, as the Chief Performance Officer. As a certified PMP professional, Anita brings real world, relevant experience to the classroom. In this role, Anita will focus on maximizing operational excellence in the health of the programs at Cognosante through ensuring a robust discipline of program and performance management.
Prior to joining Cognosante, Anita was a senior healthcare program director with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for 10 years and a consultant in the private sector with various IT firms prior to joining CMS.
At UMBC, for the past 8 years, Anita has spearheaded the establishment of several project management courses including an advanced applied course which began in 2013. The advanced course builds upon the prior fundamentals course through student interaction and engagement with the external corporate community. Anita pairs student teams with corporate executives from companies such as General Dynamics Information Technology, Edwards Project Solutions, the Baltimore Chapter of the Project Management Institute, and TTC Inc. for a real-world project management experience. Elevating the practical leadership and management skills and experiences of the students, while creating networking and job opportunities is Anita’s mission to advance this important discipline at UMBC.
