The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) recently voted to award continuing accreditation to the UMBC's Diagnostic Medical Sonography program (cardiac concentration). The program is offered through UMBC Training Centers.
Continuing Accreditation is awarded following a recent peer review conducted by the Join Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS) and CAAHEP's Board of Directors. The review recognized the program's substantial compliance with the nationally established accreditation Standards.
The accreditation standards are established by CAAHEP, JRC-DMS, American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF), American College of Radiology (ACR), American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS), Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS), and Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU).
