DoIT staff would like to report a known issue involving student availability in Bb courses. Over the past several weeks DoIT has received reports from students who have officially dropped a course in Peoplesoft, but who still remain as available in the corresponding Bb class. This has not affected all students who have dropped classes. DoIT staff have been working with Blackboard in order to determine the cause of this issue, and believe that an internal Bb system process was hung, preventing some updates from Peoplesoft from being processed. Restarting the Bb servers seems to have rectified the issue. DoIT staff are continuing to monitor the situation, and are looking at ways to prevent this from happening in the future.
Bb Instructors are encouraged to compare their official course rosters in Peoplesoft, with the list of users enrolled in their Bb courses. If they find students who have officially dropped the course but who are still listed in Bb, they can either change the student's availability to "unavailable", or they can remove them completely from the Bb course. If students find they are still listed in a Bb course that they have officially dropped, they should submit an RT ticket and ask to be removed.
