RT issue on 12-23-2013 RT experienced an issue this morning between 8:30am and 9:00am which prevented access.

The tech staff rebooted all the services and this cleaned up whatever was causing the issue. While we cannot determine the root cause we will continue to monitor and reboot if necessary to keep the system intact.

I apologize for the inconvenience and hope to identify and resolve the issue as soon as possible.

We do have a RT is down list available for anyone who wishes to get an email when such events occur. Just email me and I will be glad to add you to the list.

If an issue arises during the downtime please call the Technology Support Center (TSC) at 410-455-3838. Their Thursday hours are until 8pm and you can leave a voice mail and someone will get back to you during the normal operating hours.
 
Request Tracker (RT) has been in place almost 5 years now running on the same hardware.

Over the next 6 months DoIT will be upgrading the hardware and application staring with Phase 1 for the database server hardware. This will require downtime Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 6pm to 9pm.

Phase 2 is currently scheduled for March 2014 to upgrade the web and application hardware.

Phase 3 is currently scheduled for June 2014 to upgrade the actual RT software application.

A version of this new setup is available for testing. You can access the test RT system by:

1. Get into the VPN. (vpn.umbc.edu). This is for non-production only
2. Go to rt-dev.core.umbc.edu. You should see a different color theme for this system to ensure you are not in RT production. The data is a few weeks old but should still provide adequate scenarios for testing.

Please share any issues you may find asap so we can do our best to remedy the problem.

The good news is that our lead technical person on this upgrade, Jeremy Gude, was able to take advantage of some database options which will reduce the downtime by an anticipated 5 hours.

If an issue arises during the downtime please call the Technology Support Center (TSC) at 410-455-3838. Their Thursday hours are until 8pm and you can leave a voice mail and someone will get back to you during the normal operating hours.
 
Request Tracker (RT) has been in place almost 5 years now running on the same hardware.

Over the next 6 months DoIT will be upgrading the hardware and application staring with Phase 1 for the database server hardware. This will require downtime Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 6pm to 9pm.

Phase 2 is currently scheduled for March 2014 to upgrade the web and application hardware.

Phase 3 is currently scheduled for June 2014 to upgrade the actual RT software application.
