2013 NASI Summer Internship Programs

The National Academy of Social Insurance (www.nasi.org) is now accepting applications for it's paid internships for students studying for or interested in careers in
    social insurance policy. 

The internship programs cover a wide array of
    policy areas including Health and Income Security Policy (Washington Internship), Aging and Long-term Care Policy (Somers Internship), Disability Policy (Eileen Sweeney Internship), and Non-profit Management (Nathan J. Stark Internship). 

The programs consist of a 12-week summer semester internship that usually spans May to August,depending on the student’s college schedule. Students receive a $3,500
    honorarium for their internship experience. International
    
Students with valid student visas are encouraged to apply and can be placed with non-governmental organizations, if placement projects match their skills and interests.

Spend ten weeks of your summer working on exciting projects in artificial intelligence and machine learning at Bryn Mawr College! We have openings for several undergraduate or graduate research assistants to work on two grant-sponsored research projects this summer. Student participants will join a research team with other students, Prof. Eric Eaton, and one postdoctoral researcher to carry out a detailed program of research toward scholarly publications. Students will present the results of their research during the final week of the program at Bryn Mawr College, and (if appropriate) at their home institutions and/or other academic venues, such as research conferences.

All students who are beginning their junior or senior undergraduate year in Fall 2013 or who will graduate during the Spring 2013 semester, and all graduate students are eligible to apply. To be considered, you should have a background in either computer science, mathematics, physics, or statistics and have strong grades in your major. Although it is not required, it would be beneficial if you have taken and done well in at least one course related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, statistics, or topology.

On-campus housing and meals are available for student participants, along with a variety of professional development workshops and summer activities. Application instructions and further details are available online.

Tetracore is coming to campus!

Tetracore, a leading biotechnology company whose mission is to create and develop highly innovative diagnostic reagents, assays, and instruments for the detection of infectious diseases and bio-terrorism threat agents is seeking 4 interns for Summer 2013. Tetracore's focus is on veterinary, domestic preparedness, clinical, antibody and ELISA products.  Positions are at the Tetracore headquarters in Rockville, MD.

Positions include:

Research and Development Science Intern

Seeking an R&D intern that will work in collaboration with the R&D team on various projects. He or she will make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results. The intern will help prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses. The intern will be expected to maintain familiarity with current scientific literature and may also be responsible for conducting his or her own experiments.

Software / Bioinformatics Engineering Intern

Tetracore’s next generation diagnostic platform requires software development for embedded systems, graphical user interfaces, algorithms, and data analysis.  The Software Engineering Intern will assist the team in the planning, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of software solutions in support of biotechnology R&D and Product Development.  Assist in the design and implementation of new products or enhance current designs of software modules and components that meet functional specifications and target due dates.  Support and/or participate in component, subsystem and system concept design to help the team in verifying key design parameters and evaluating design options.  Assist the team in setting up and maintaining infrastructure for the software development process including revision control, continuous integration, and testing. Participate on multi-functional product research and development teams.

The functions of the Software Engineering Intern will be performed under supervision, in a timely manner and with acceptable quality.

Electrical / Computer Engineering Intern

Tetracore’s next generation diagnostic platform requires the development of mechanical, electrical, and software systems for novel diagnostic instruments.  The Electrical Engineering Intern will assist the team in the planning, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of device solutions in support of biotechnology R&D and Product Development.

The functions of the Electrical Engineering Intern will be performed under supervision, in a timely manner and with acceptable quality.
