CS3/MIPAR along with OSP strongly encourages all Principle Investigators and Research Administrators to <span>become a member of ORCID!</span><span> </span></strong></p><p><strong><em>***Reposted from OSP***</em></strong></p><div>Welcome to a New Opportunity--<a href="https://orcid.org/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">ORCID</a>!  The acronym ORCID stands for <strong>O</strong>pen <strong>R</strong>esearcher &amp; <strong>C</strong>ontributor <strong>ID</strong>entification<strong>.<span>  </span></strong>ORCID is an international, non-profit organization -- sustained by fees from member organizations -- that provides digital identifiers (termed an ORCID ID) for researchers.<span> </span></div><p>An ORCID ID will notably provide and account for a record of a researchers’ professional activities.<span>  </span>ORCID IDs are free for individuals, and participating organizations (like UMBC) around the globe can collect and use the ORCID IDs of their affiliated researchers in research administration workflows. ORCID aims to increase and expand possible connections amongst a multitude of researchers, with the hope of developing and contributing--among other numerous merits and benefits-- to potentially greater interdisciplinary cooperation and collaboration in research.</p><p>ORCID will provide a unique and personally distinct digital identifier (and ORCID ID) that you own and control (you will keep this ID even if you opt to leave UMBC).     <div class="html-content"><div><strong>UPDATE:</strong> OSP announced they will be “going live” with the Kuali Credit Split on July 1, 2021</div><div><br></div><div><em><strong>What does this mean?<br></strong><br></em></div><div>This means beginning July 1, 2021, for every proposal submission, the Kuali Proposal Aggregator needs to assign credit to multiple persons and units for various categories including:  intellectual credit, intellectual credit <strong>(Academic)</strong>, financial credit <strong>(DRIF)</strong>, proposal creation and submission <strong>(Pre-Award)</strong> and</div><div>award management <strong>(Post Award)</strong> support.<br><br></div><div>The PI, CoI(s) and Chair(s) will need to work with the Kuali proposal aggregator and each other to determine the split they feel is appropriate and reasonable for everyone in every category.<br><br></div><div><em><strong>Where can you learn more about the credit split?</strong></em></div><div><br>To introduce you to the Kuali credit split and help you with this transition, the Office of Sponsored Programs will be holding <strong>“Open Door Sessions”</strong> where you can drop in and meet with Rebecca O’Brien, the Grants and Contracts Manager from OSP.
