As the weather (slightly) cools and the end of the semester draws near, we want to encourage our campus communicators to keep inclusive text and imagery in mind when crafting end-of-year messages and greetings.

UMBC is a community of people of all backgrounds who practice a variety of religious traditions, and those who practice none. In producing content for broad audiences, content creators should show respect and recognition of this fact by avoiding language or imagery that centers on one religion, assumes shared religious-cultural experiences (or assumes religious affiliation in general), or elevates one religion over another.

As communicators we should aim to honor our community members' religious traditions, encourage folks to share them if they'd like, and learn about their experiences while still maintaining inclusive communications.

• MUST be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for at least 3 - 4 hours each day between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
• Be highly dedicated & organized
• Have at least 2 semesters left at UMBC
• Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
• Pass a judicial and OEI check
• Be able to work at least 10 hours a week
• Be an undergraduate student

• You have an interest in visual arts, design, and/or animation
• You have an interest or are involved in student events

• Two references (name and contact information is fine)
• Screenshot of your current schedule including ALL classes and other obligations (this includes any clubs, extracurriculars, etc.)

commonvision can help with resume printing! To help with the process email us the following to: commonvision@umbc.edu:

• Your file
• If it's a Google doc be sure permissions are set to be viewed by everyone

• How many copies you would like

• Single or double sided (if applicable)
• Color or black & white
• Paper type, we have a couple of options:
• Our standard paper for color or b&w
• Resume paper (an additional .30 per sheet)
• If you would like to decide this in person after seeing the paper that is fine
• If you are an undergraduate or graduate student

Please note that we will only print these once you come into our office. We will treat these emails as walk-ins and won't have them printed ahead of time.

We only accept Retriever Dollars as payment. You can put cash on your card at the CIC (Commons Information Center) desk in the Lobby of The Commons or put money on your campus card via myUMBC (there is a $10 minimum).

Alternatively, you can use the mobile print kiosks to print. Instructions on how to use the kiosks may be of help. A few notes about the kiosk:

• The printers can only print in black and white
• 8.5 x 11" (letter size) is the only size it prints - any other size will cause the printer to lock up/not print so be sure to check your settings.

Be sure to give yourself enough time to have your prints completed, we will do our best to assist you in a timely manner.

ATTENTION UMBC student organizations! 

Involvement Fest is quickly approaching. commonvision (UMBC Design and Print Center) is here to help with your Involvement Fest prints! 

UMBC (and commonvision) is closed Monday, September 4 for Labor Day. This gives commonvision 2 full business days to print materials needed for your clubs. Please note at this time, we can offer flyers and quartercards for Involvement Fest. Other services will have a turnaround time that extends beyond Involvement Fest. 

For best consideration, please submit your flyers and quartercards by 5 p.m. Friday, September 1 via commonvision@umbc.edu. Any clubs using carryover funds will need to provide us with a completed RESGAF before printing will begin. Please note outside of chartstrings/club funds we only accept retriever dollars on your campus card.

Something to consider is printing a couple flyers that stay at your table that contain a QR code to your organization's myUMBC group. This may help us to cut down on printing demand and make sure that even if you run out of materials, you still have something people can scan.
