The deadline for all special submissions, including sculptural, three-dimensional, or not-2D and non-time-based work is
TODAY AT 5:00PM. Please submit all work to the commonvision email (
commonvision@umbc.edu) or come in to the storefront on the third floor of The Commons.
The 10-Second Motion Challenge deadline has been extended to Thursday February 27th at 5:00pm. Come in to the storefront to drop off your work, or email us at
commonvision@umbc.edu.
The deadline for $5 free printing for the ArtWeek Visual Aid Gallery is still this Wednesday the 26th at 5:00pm.
The deadlines for 2D, animation, film, and other multimedia work for the ArtWeek Visual Aid Gallery still remains on this Friday the 28th at 4:00pm. The same goes for all Craft Fair Vendor Submissions, and the Cultural Gallery.

International Award Wining Cartoonist, Kevin “Kal” Kallaugher
Coming Tuesday, March 4th, 2014
7:00pm-9:00pm
The Skylight Room, 3rd Floor (next to the elevators), The Commons
In a lively and entertaining illustrated presentation, Kal will provide insight to his 35 year stint as an international award winning cartoonist. Kal will discuss his unique and challenging profession and his 8000 barbed commentaries that have engaged readers and leaders around the globe. The presentation will be capped off with live drawing of Kal’s favorite targets (plus a book signing of Kal’s newest collection Daggers Drawn, perhaps).
Free food will be provided!

Art Week 2014 is a few months away! Submit your work!
ArtWeek 2014 will happen from March 3-7th this year! The winter break is a great time to start thinking about or creating art you'd like to submit to the ArtWeek Exhibition, the 10 Second Motion Challenge, or the Craft Fair.
ArtWeek is a celebration of the arts on campus, including fine arts, performance, music, film, animation, sculpture, and everything in between. There is no shortage of creativity on our campus, and we are truly pleased to have the opportunity to share these forms of expression at UMBC.
In addition to the three events stated above, there will be lots of other events happening at ArtWeek.

Gallery Assistant Position:
To be successful in our busy fine art gallery, you must be detail orientated and self motivated with exceptional organizational skills. Ideal candidate must be a problem-solver, good with numbers and able to work well in a team atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
Assist gallery director and sales consultants
Assist clients as needed
Maintain gallery appearance
Data entry
Scheduling
Answer phones
Project assignments
Qualifications:
Exceptional organizational skills
Detail orientated
Great multitasking skills
Problem solver
Good with numbers
Work well in a fast-paced environment
Computer Savvy
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus
