Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program,
“Cardiovascular Research: Engineering a Translational
Experience (CREATE),” runs May 30 to August 4, 2017, and
is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
The program provides a variety of research opportunities for
undergraduate students in cardiovascular research.

Students will have an opportunity to join a number of
cutting-edge research teams that focus on furthering the
understanding of cardiovascular diseases and developing
medical interventions to treat related conditions. Research
projects will emphasize the development of implantable
devices, artificial gene therapy, and drug delivery systems.
Students in the program will engage in a wide range of
biomedical engineering research and participate in weekly
group activities. These activities provide an overview of
current technologies and expose students to the research
challenges in each area.

Students will be challenged to use a creative skill set to
innovate new solutions for the betterment of human health
and society.

Applications for the Penn State Department of Biomedical
Engineering CREATE REU program are currently being
accepted. We particularly welcome applications from
undergraduate students who are enrolled in science and
engineering programs, and those maintaining a strong
interest in cardiovascular research. Travel assistance and a
research stipend are provided to eligible students.

For Engineering and Computer Science Majors Association of Old Crows APG-Susquehanna Chapter
Student Scholarship 2016-2017

Five students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Association of Old Crows (AOC) APG-Susquehanna Chapter and a one year AOC membership from the National AOC. Winners will be recognized and awarded scholarships at the Chapter Distinguished Speaker and Scholarship Awards Luncheon scheduled for March 23, 2017.

Requirements: Students must be undergraduate degree-seeking in the areas of engineering or computer sciences and be able to articulate a career interest related to the AOC professional mission in the fields of military communications, electronic warfare, electromagnetic spectrum management operations, cyber electromagnetic activities, and/or information operations. For example, a future career on a team that: develops systems that protect pilots from enemy anti-aircraft weapons and ground troops and civilians from IEDs or develops tools and programs to counter enemy cyber-attacks.

Instructions: Please complete the application and essay and return to your school representative with two academic reference letters of from your current university/college. Submission deadline is Monday January 30, 2017. Scholarship winners will be notified through their school by February 20, 2017.
