The Office of Summer & Winter Programs awards scholarships to UMBC degree-seeking students who enroll in Winter Session 2018.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

·    GPA of minimum 3.2

·    100 undergraduate or 23 graduate credits earned by the end of the fall 2017 semester 

·    Demonstrated financial need based on FAFSA

Both full and partial tuition scholarships are awarded. The deadline to apply is Friday, December 1, 2017. For more information, visit the winter session website at umbc.edu/winter or email to winter@umbc.edu.

Association of Old Crows APG-Susquehanna Chapter

Student Scholarship 2017-2018

$1,000 scholarship from the Association of Old Crows (AOC) APG-Susquehanna Chapter and a one year AOC membership from the National AOC. Winners will be recognized and awarded scholarships at the Chapter Distinguished Speaker and Scholarship Awards Luncheon scheduled for March 2018.

Requirements: Students must be undergraduate degree-seeking in the areas of engineering or computer sciences and be able to articulate a career interest related to the AOC professional mission in the fields of military communications, electronic warfare, electromagnetic spectrum management operations, cyber electromagnetic activities, and/or information operations. For example, a future career on a team that: develops systems that protect pilots from enemy anti-aircraft weapons and ground troops and civilians from IEDs or develops tools and programs to counter enemy cyber-attacks.

Skills for Success Workshop is a drop-in workshop and provides coping strategies to deal with stress, time management, motivation and anxiety that often interfere with meeting personal, social, and academic goals.  This 6-week program includes topics such as procrastination, stress management, time management, test anxiety, motivation/goal-setting, and sleep/get through finals. 

You've Got This Group is a 4-week program and intended to help students develop skills and strategies that they need to cope with emotional challenges in their day to day life.  Topics include mindfulness, thought as thought, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.  This program has been shown to increase psychological resilience.  

RIO Workshop is a 3-week workshop that aims to give students tools to recognize their concerns and to develop a clearer idea of what they want to change in their life.  The R.I.O stands for Recognition, Insight, and Openness. Students will learn ways to incorporate mindfulness in their life.   

Hold Me Tight Workshop is designed help couples learn how to understand their relationship patterns and improve their conversation skills through presentations by the workshop leaders, video demonstrations of other couples, and private exercises and conversations with their partners.  

Trans Support Group is a semester-long, emotional support group for UMBC students who identify as trans, genderqueer, gender fluid, non-binary, bigender, and/or those who are questioning their gender identity. This is a student-centered group to explore gender identity as well as gain support from peers on issues that may impact trans college students. 

When:  Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom.

Have free dinner and win great prizes. Meet employers who are interested in diversifying their workforce. Top organizations will be on hand to discuss career opportunities within their organizations/agencies.

Munch and mingle with employers who are interested in hiring students in your major. Dress professionally and bring copies of your resume.

Pre-registration is required. Limited seating. You must be a UMBC student or recent alum and pre-register by Oct. 18. Priority will be given to juniors and seniors, but all are welcome.
